  1. I fully expect the Sox to deal Lavarnway in a deal for a high caliber SP (Garza?). A deal of Lavarnway + Bard would definitely start it out. Buster Olney was on EEI today and said that Theo, Hoyer and the Cubs would be interested in Bard, and wouldn't be swayed by his poor year this year because of his track record.
  2. I'm just listening on the radio at work, so I couldn't tell. They just said it bounced about 90 times and couldn't have been hit weaker. Sounds familiar.
  3. I was clearly referring to the part where you called the Braves a "useless offense" And you said yourself, he's got unhittable stuff if he can throw strikes. Well, he's throwing strikes, his walks are down, so what's the problem now? Now he's just an average pitcher? 9.61 K/9. 2.34 BB/9. 2.79 FIP overall. As a starter: 13.91 K/9. 0.82 BB/9. .423 BABIP. 58.3% Strand Rate. Still, 3.27 ERA. 0.24 FIP. There is ample reason to be excited about this guy based on the numbers he has put up over the past 2 seasons, specifically those with the Red Sox.
  4. Lester's got a .392 BABIP over his past 5 starts. He also has a -1.11 FIP. His luck turns today. I'm expecting an outstanding performance.
  5. And i would give up a package of Lavarnway + Cecchini for a guy like Grienke
  6. I would give up Lavarnway + 1 of the 3 (probably Barnes) for Hamels if we got a negotiating window in the deal. Hamels Lester Beckett Buchholz Doubront/Morales That would be an unbelievable rotation.
  7. Judging on what Cherrington told Stern and Bowden today, yeah. And by the way - Cherrington also said the Red Sox priority between now and the deadline was another SP. With Garza, Grienke, and Hamels all likely on the market, you gotta think the Red Sox will come down with one of the 3.
  8. Cherrington was on with Casey Stern and Jim Bowden today and said that Ellsbury and Crawfod will be back by the ASB. Not sure if that means before or after, but I would assume before. I wouldn't be surprised if they are both back by the Yankees series. Gotta think, 8-10 days at 4-5 AB per game would get them there.
  9. Bad news, Rays, O's, and Angels. Pedroia is heating up. Gonzo is finding his stroke (finally). And we're about to make the three biggest moves of the deadline when we get two MVP candidates and an all star closer.
  10. Just FYI - They are 19-1. You've missed a game somewhere.
  11. It's only happened once, tonight. Double off the wall.
  12. Rays are now 3 outs away from being only 1 game ahead of the Red Sox in the East.
  13. Right leg crossed over left leg just above the ankle when Gonzo is hitting in a 2-1 count with RISP but ONLY with less than 2 outs and ONLY in innings later than the 6th and he's a .339 hitter.
