  1. Crawford should take off here.
  2. Not sure why the hell we have Nava DH'ing, and especially not sure why he's hitting 3rd. If you just sent Morales back to the bullpen, why not option Tazawa and call up Lavarnway to DH for the week that Ortiz is out?!?
  3. At least we're facing Humber tonight. 5 IP, 9 ER vs BOS earlier this year.
  4. I mean, the guy's BABIP is .326 coming into tonight. He's been hit hard, no doubt, but some of those hard hit balls should get caught since a lot of the dribblers are bleeding through too. That's all I'm saying.
  5. Yeah. He's let up a few hard hit balls too. But his BABIP is screwing him, and his swing and miss % has decreased by 5% since 2010. More Contact + Higher BABIP = Bad news.
  6. Lets go Lester, bear down.
  7. Wow. Some things just don't change. Lester getting dicked again by bitch hits.
  8. Ciriaco has to have that ball that Dunn hit. Pedroia makes that play 10 times out of 10.
  9. Lester throws a gem tonight, kicking off what is going to be a phenomenal 2nd half for him.
  10. Not at all. It happens all the freaking time.
  11. Ortiz had something very similar last year in August. He actually had to wear a walking boot then as well. Once he returned, he hit .339/.433/.545 for the remainder of the season. I don't think its anything that's going to affect his performance, especially since he doesn't play defense.
  12. Morales is the odd man out of the rotation. He's going back to the bullpen according to all the tweets from the beat writers. Initially, I was pissed. Then I realized its a very smart move. Leave Cook in the rotation for now. Go trade for another SP. Then you piggy back Morales's innings on the end of Doubronts so that you will have that solid back of the rotation until the season is over, even after Doubronts innings limit is met. There is no point in having two guys with innings limits in the rotation at the same time if you don't have to. Now, go get Garza, bump Cook. And you have a 1-5 of Lester Beckett Buchholz Garza Doubront until Doubies reaches his limit, and Morales gets inserted into the rotation. Doubront to DL, Bailey to bullpen. Well played, FO
  13. Couple things: 1. Ellsbury stole 70 bags in 2009. It's not that this team is afraid to run, they just pick their spots. I don't think we can look at this season and suggest that it's not a team that will manufacture runs when we've seen 1 game with Ellsbury and Crawford in it. 2. It was Ciriaco on 1st when Remy was talking about stealing, and Crawford swung at the 2nd pitch, so he had 1 chance to go. So that's a non factor. 3. Aviles stole 2nd base in the 8th with 2 outs and Ciriaco hitting. Plain and simple, under V, they haven't had much of a chance to manufacture runs. They have had virtually no speed. Aviles is not a SB threat by any means, and I believe he's leading the team. Just because they pick their spots doesn't mean they're afraid of stealing, or not into manufacturing runs. Last night, Crawford walked in the 8th on 5 pitches. That would have been a perfect time to steal....except the pitcher couldn't find the strike zone. Why risk running when you're likely going to be moved to 2nd on a walk? With Ellsbury and Crawford at the top of the order, I think you'll see quite a bit more aggressiveness on the basepaths, specifically stealing. I don't think you can make any kind of judgement based on last night or the other 10 games that had Ellsbury in it.
  14. Yeh. Why would anyone want a guy who hit .307/.387/.474, 21 HR, 91 RBI, 37 2B hitting in the 3 hole behind two guys who can score from 1st on a double and forces pitchers into mistakes?? That would be awful.
  15. Ortiz missed 9 games last year with heel bursitis. Beat writers suspecting this may be related. Hopefully it's not as long, though. 2-4 games is what I'm expecting based on V's comments.
  16. Well the CC thing was more of him trying to come back too fast, then have a setback with his elbow, then have a setback with his groin. His wrist was healed very quickly. It was the setbacks that hurt him. And regardless, this isn't nearly as serious as that stuff.
  17. The Sox kind of lucked out. It looks like Bautista is going to miss the Sox/Jays series.
  18. They would still be able to tell if there was a tear or anything major just by testing the motion and pain, I would think. I wonder if they make a roster move and call up Lavarnway to be the DH while he's gone. They need to, for sure. Option Tazawa, call up Lavarnway.
