The Sox need to figure out what the hell they're going to do.
They need to either buy big and go for a guy like Hamels, Josh Johnson, or blow away the Mariners for Felix.
Or.
They need to sell pieces like Lester, Beckett, and potentially even Ellsbury. The Rangers just lost Colby Lewis, and a piece like Lester, even as bad as he's been, could be sold for a big, big profit. Beckett, if we ate $3-4mm a year, could return a bit, but would free up some space for a big offseason FA pitcher.
I'm fine with either. But whatever we do, don't stand pat.
And by the way - Josh Johnson is having a better year than it looks, 3.13 FIP. He's fresh off TJS, and typically it's year 2 that you really return to form and have a big year.
