  1. What is this music?? Am I watching the Titanic?
  2. I guess I should clarify - I've heard Gammons, Olney, I think Mirosi/Rosenthal all talk about "If the Phillies sign Hamels, Team X will be looking to trade for in Cliff Lee." I've heard the Cardinals and Rangers mentioned, so I assumed that Lee would be on the block if Hamels is resigned. It makes sense, too, so I wouldn't be surprised. We'll see. Only 10 more days until the deadline.
  3. The Sox are going to make a run at this. They're 2 games out of the WC, and I'm sorry, but I'm not buying that the Rays, White Sox, A's, or Orioles are better than the Red Sox. They're still 5-3 off the break, and can very easily come out and win the next 2 vs the Jays. They're going to deal for a SP, but it's not going to be a 2 month rental, it's going to be a guy who is under control for at least next year (Garza) or beyond that (Felix type). I know everyone says the Mariners aren't selling Felix, but I think they will.
  4. Kalish wouldn't get a deal done for Garza. Theo is looking for players who will help the club in around 3 years. So he's looking at A ball players essentially. That's why I think guys like Swihart, Cecchini, Owens, or maybe even Brentz would be the guys who get dealt. Not guys like Lavarnway, Kalish, etc. And the Sox FO won't dish any of the Bogaerts/Barnes/Bradley combo.
  5. From everything that I have heard, the Phillies can't afford both Hamels and Lee, so if they resign Hamels, then Lee will likely be available. Especially if they want to keep their offensive pieces like Hunter Pence. Nobody is going to take on a 34 year old guy with 5 years left for $25mm. But if you drop that down to about $18mm, you'll likely get some interest, and you'll get some better prospects. On top of that, the Phils would be able to retain some of their bats.
  6. If the Phillies sign Hamels, which it is looking like they will, I say the Sox go for Cliff Lee. I know his numbers are down in terms of ERA, but hear me out here. - The Phillies will likely eat about $5-7mm of his salary per season, meaning they would be leaving about $18-20mm per year for the Sox to pick up. This would allow the Phillies to go out and resign guys like Hunter Pence. - The Sox need an ace, and at $18-20mm, that's a better deal than you would get on the open market. - Lee has an FIP of 3.04. His K/9 (8.57) and BB/9 (1.78) are both better than his career numbers. This is almost the opposite of a Ryan Dempster deal. Dempster will regress back to his career numbers once traded. Lee will likely do the same, but in the opposite direction. - Lee gives us that bona fide ace that we need. It allows Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, and Doubront to slot down. I mean honestly. Buchholz as your #4? That's ridiculous. I am going on record and saying I think the Sox should trade for Cliff Lee.
  7. This game was a massive pile of dogshit. Win tomorrow. I hate night games on Saturday.
  8. Lose this game, and we're still 5-3 in the 2nd half. That's .625 baseball, which over 76 games would be 48 wins. That would get this team to 91 wins and into the WC. All is not lost, believe it or not. It does, however, suck really bad that they can't play better.
  9. Great team loss tonight. Played like a bunch of f***ing amateurs.
  10. i see what u did there.
  11. You should pay attention before you make a dickhead comment that makes you look like an idiot.
  12. No, you'd just sell off everyone and be the new KC Royals because you don't like media perception even though you don't know anything about them.
  13. You're responding to a post from, oh, I don't know, about an hour and a half ago. Thanks, though.
  14. Not giving up on this game, but I'm frustrated as s*** right now
  15. Yeh. And take your .440 average with you!
