  1. Now I know why we suck at timely hitting. Because everytime we need a timely hit, Aviles is up.
  2. Crawford is just dying for a pitch inside to drive, he wants it so badly he'll swing at s*** at his ankles as long as it's inside but watch pitches at his thighs on the outside half.
  3. That's a leadoff hitter in each of the last 3 innings. Score a freaking run.
  4. The Red Sox bullpen ERA (3.11) is actually better than the Rangers (3.24) and the Yankees (3.17). That's surprising given the names. BobbyV doesn't get nearly enough credit for doing what he's done with that bullpen, especially without Bard, Papelbon, or his replacement, Bailey.
  5. Yeah he just stayed home to get treatment while the Sox traveled to Texas. He isn't eligible to be activated until August 1. He will rejoin the team, meaning he'll be with them in NYY in the dugout, not meaning he'll be activated.
  6. It's just absolutely pathetic. I'm actually ok with going and getting HanRam. I'm so sick of seeing Aviles's s***** stance, horrible eye, and his consistent weak contact. If I have to see that s*** every night, at least let it be for defensive wizadry. Otherwise, go get a SS who has capabilities. A change of scenery could do absolute wonders for HanRam. Not just in the aspect of getting out of Miami and hitting the reset button, but also because he's extremely close to Papi, and because Fenway would be so inviting for him.
  7. Nope. Not available to come off the DL until August 1.
  8. More completely lifeless showings from the offense. This team really breaks my heart.
  9. It's going to be really, really interesting to see if this FO just digs their heels in and really commits to this team, and goes out and forces the issue to get that bonafide ace like a Cliff Lee or a Felix Hernandez. They don't need anymore #2/#3 types, so no Garza IMO. They need to either get Lee, Felix (even though he is "not available"), or someone of that caliber if they're really committed to this season.
  10. If the guy can stay healthy and start giving us 220+ IP, he may be a true ace.
  11. Jung - Timely hitting is always required, that's the biggest thing. Getting 2 out RBI, getting gap shots with 1 out and a man on 1st, etc. Timely hits are what makes teams good. EDIT: Nevermind - Misread your first post. I thought you were saying if you adapt you don't need timely hitting.
  12. I think just the fact that LF goes from 344 in Miami to 310 in Boston would make a huge difference.
  13. And lets be honest, it's not exactly hard to hit a ball out of RF in Arlington.
  14. Aviles is well beyond hideous at this point. Go get HanRam, please. Joking, kind of. I'd be curious to see if HanRam would shape up in a new clubhouse where he's not king and he's got mentors like Ortiz. Not to mention put him in a bandbox, I think he'd crush at Fenway myself.
  15. The count better be 3-2 before you swing, Mike.
  16. 6 straight balls, I swear if Aviles swings at strike 1, I'll go ballistic.
  17. Pal, if you're gong to win the Aviles Over/Under, here's a good spot to win it.
  18. man this game, this thread, even the booth just feels so lifeless.
  19. Lets go Craw. Get a rip here.
  20. Couldn't agree more on Iggy. I'm fine with a 25-30 HR catcher, and his defense has improved a lot. I should mention, I don't buy into cERA at all, so that's not a factor for me. EDIT: I don't see how the bullpen can have a 3.11 ERA, yet the SP have a 4.89 ERA, and it be the catchers fault.
  21. Over/Under on hits for Aviles tonigh: 0.5. Whats your take?
