  1. Jon Lester (strained lat) is scheduled to return to the Red Sox rotation on Tuesday, July 26 against the Royals at Fenway Park. Lester is scheduled for a bullpen session Monday. He's been on the disabled list since July 6 with a left latissimus strain. "I think he was actually aggravated. He wanted to pitch Friday. So I think that's good news for us that he must feel good," manager Terry Francona said. "But we need to give him a chance where he can go out and not be stuck on 60 pitches in his first comeback." Lester is scheduled to start on Andrew Miller's turn in the rotation, but expect the Red Sox to option Kyle Weiland to the minors to make room for the veteran left-hander.
  2. The Red Sox are among the teams that have asked the Padres about Ryan Ludwick, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney. The Red Sox could use a bat to play in the corner outfield and Ludwick certainly fits that bill, with a .795 career OPS over nine seasons. He's struggled this year in PETCO, posting a .240/.305/.379 slash line heading into play on Sunday. Ludwick is still owed roughly $2.25 million this season
  3. Ubaldo Jimenez wants to finish his career with the Rockies. Jimenez is one of the hottest names being thrown around the hot stove right now, but the 27-year-old doesn't want to go anywhere. "As a player, you always want to be on the same team for your whole career," Jimenez said. "I'd like to finish my career here, but that's something you can't control. Baseball is a really good game, but there's a business side." Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd said Sunday that although he'll "listen to anything," he considers the possibility of trading Jimenez "not very likely." SI.com's Jon Heyman reported that at least 12 teams have contacted the Rockies regarding the right-hander's availability and also said that the Rockies would be interested in Yankees prospect Jesus Montero in a potential Jimenez deal
  4. Pretty Dumb that a game that wins the Title comes down to PK

  7. 1-1 This game should of been over already usa had so many chances
  8. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that some teams are concerned about Heath Bell's declining strikeout rate. Bell has seen his K/9 rate go from 10.6 the last two years to 6.6 this season, and although it hasn't hurt his effectiveness, it is a pretty alarming drop. His velocity isn't down much at all, though, so we're not especially concerned. The Phillies and Rangers appear to be the front-runners for his services at this point.

  10. Though Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd said he'll "listen to anything," he considers the possibility of trading Ubaldo Jimenez "not very likely." "We will listen to anything, but the reality is that rumor is not very likely to take place,'' O'Dowd said. We wouldn't expect him to say anything else. Jimenez being dealt has been a longshot all along, but it's clear the Rockies aren't dismissing the possibility. The Yankees, Reds and Tigers have all been linked to the right-hander.
