  1. I'm not sure that Clayton Richard's skillset is that suited towards San Diego's ballpark. He gets a decent number of ground balls, he isn't an extreme fly ball pitcher like Cain. Cain's home ERA is 3.19, and his away ERA is 3.76. Meanwhile, his FIP and xFIP is nearly identical, as is his batted ball profile (although a few of his line drives away turn into grounders). While 3.76 is not a terrible ERA to have, I wouldn't say that it is pitching well.
  2. Matt Cain is one of the most overrated pitchers in baseball. I don't think there is a clearer example of a pitcher being the product of his ballpark.
  3. I'm not sure what Liverpool fans are expecting. This team is not very good this year, switching the manager may help but it isn't likely to work miracles. I'm not sure why all these Liverpool fans are so concerned with getting rid of Hodgson when there are probably more pressing concerns, like a striker that can score goals this season. Or a defender, since it looks like Agger's on his way out.
  4. From what I'm reading, the Cubs' package for Garza is 6 for 3? Wtf? Garza is alright, but not that good. Unless all of the Cubs' prospects are crap, there should be no reason that they pull the trigger on this one. After all, Josh Willingham was dealt for a long-shot reliever and a mediocre outfield prospect.
  5. Neil Walker, 2B (Bench), Pirates, $400,000
  6. Wilton Lopez, RP, Astros, $400,000 Trying to decide between two players for the second pick.
  7. An improvement anywhere else. Pagan could be interesting, if you're willing to let him go. Otherwise, a 2 for 2 offer where I don't end up with holes to fill in my lineup or rotation (aside from DH).
  8. In other news, Carl Crawford nearly crashed when he heard about his contract with the Sox. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Carl-Crawford-shouldn-t-drive-while-receiving-bi;_ylt=AkDcwDf75zORDsIu5bPGCXURvLYF?urn=mlb-304266
  9. I thought you didn't like Papelbon. Then again, I guess you did drafted half the Yankees infield.
  10. I really don't get why people have this perception that players somehow magically turn it on in contract years. But I'm really too lazy to express all of my opinions on this, so... http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/adrian-beltre-is-not-motivated-by-contract-years/ Now, I think that the Rangers may have overpaid for Beltre (but then again, pretty much everyone on the market has been overpaid for at the top). And I don't mean to single you out, but I just find this idea very common and not really close to true.
  11. Some people need an outfielder. He slots in fine as a DH, but I figured that his glove was going to waste, and if someone's willing to come up with a good offer for him I would definitely consider it.
  12. Willing to move Josh Willingham for the right package. He can at least play the field. Pretty much all other players are avaliable to be discussed in the trade except Longoria and Greinke. I also don't want to end up in a position where the trade leaves me missing a starting player (i.e. puts me down to 4 starters, or gives me a hole in OF). Also, I'm fine with including salaries as part of trades, but I don't think it's a big deal whether it happens or not. I don't think that the number of trades would explode by including it.
  13. Just wanted to get the point across.
  14. Josh Willingham, DH (backup OF), Oakland A's, $4.6M Joel Hanrahan, RP, Pirates, $453K
  15. I don't think that it would be that big of a deal. If anything, I think pitch selection for relievers is more forgiving (since the batter hasn't seen their stuff before, and most relievers get away with throwing a lot of fastballs) and that most starters would perform better as a long reliever. I guess there could be issues in terms of adjusting to the role - how long they can pitch, etc, but personally I don't find it to be a big deal. Of course, this is your long reliever, so it's not exactly the most important role to fill. They'll only be pitching if your starter sucked - in which case, you'll probably be on your way to losing anyway - or if your starter blew out his arm.
  16. Does anyone have Forsyth's pick?
  17. Don't worry, he's taking his time. Reading our minds as we speak.
