So the White Sox have a new naming rights deal for U.S. Cellular Field. It will now be called Guaranteed Rate Field. Are you kidding me? Professional sports franchises continue to show no shame or class when there's a money-grab to be had. Also, the mortgage company's logo is an arrow pointing downward. I trust that won't be displayed too prominently around the stadium.

I pray to God he doesn't opt out. Please, Stanton, take Jeffrey Douchebag to the cleaners on this one. I wouldn't opt out? $300mil+ and every penny guaranteed? That would suit me. I'm not greedy.

espn article quoted a scouting source saying he had no shot. I don't know if it's ever been done before.

He's told all 30 teams "don't go anywhere, I plan to put on a hitting display." Will have an open workout session at the end of the month. He last swung a bat in anger in high school, and is now 29 which is the wrong side of middle age in baseball terms. I say he's got no shot, but is someone going to be dumb enough to sign him for the added hype/marketing bump? He's going to have to start out in the minors and I don't see him shaking off 11 years of rust and making it to the majors. Just my opinion but I think he should admit to himself his career as a pro athlete is over, just take the broadcasting as far as it will go and then look for some other type of job, either in or out of sports. (And I realize the title's Rickey Henderson reference is way too subtle to be noticed).

Would you blame him? I don't like guaranteed contracts but if the Yankees were this stupid handing out the money, of course he's going to want every penny. I would too. -

The biggest winner at the trade deadline is Matt Moore. Going from home games at the worst stadium in the majors to one of the best.

Don't like it. Something like that is dictating too much about the in-game decisions and warping the flow and demands of games. It's also going to probably lead to a rash of fake injuries so they can get someone else in there before whenever the rules say a change can be made.

Theo Epstein - orchestrated the first WS title in 86 years = jerk. Curt Schilling - contributed to win, but is an ******* personality-wise = can't say a bad word about him. Have I got that right?
