  1. I really don't understand Cespedes in LF where he has to contend with the wall. Or maybe they figure that's better than putting him in RF with his somewhat suspect defense?
  2. Sorry, am I missing something? How is 2/5 being Buch and Workman "pretty great?" They are awful. Kelly has taken a big step back this year.
  3. To be fair to Buch, he has been forced into this position of leading the rotation, and we all know he's not a leader type or cut out for it. We shouldn't get pissed that he won't step up, because he's just not that kind of guy. And really, it hardly matters much for the rest of the season.
  4. Just as a side point, something that absolutely kills me about sports is when players start getting bitchy about wanting a contract torn up and redone - especially in football with the holdouts. Never mind fines, players should be suspended if they hold out. You signed that piece of paper, and the fact you don't like it any more is tough f***ing s***.
  5. Oh, he'll put 25 over the wall all right, but what else does he bring to the plate the rest of the time? Answer: not much.
  6. I've got no problem with the thread being hijacked by the trade, but the purpose of it was the bitching and how f***ing stupid he looked bitching in the first place. I mean, maybe just ten starts wasn't being fair to him? LMAO.
  7. While pitching in general matters most in the postseason, I believe you have to have a strong pen and bench to win in October.
  8. Sorry, thought he was at AAA already.
  9. Replacing Stanton with Cespedes is a huge step back, and how much will Cespedes bring as a FA? More than Miami is likely wanting to pay.
  10. I started reading the FB comments at espn and had to stop. So many f***ing clueless idiots who didn't even read the article.
  11. Cespedes's arm is wasted in LF. I think Craig plays 1B unless there are any better candidates?
  12. I assume Bradley and Victorino mix and match LF/CF and Cespedes in RF with Craig at 1B and Holt is the supersub - even though Craig plays more often in the OF. I don't like the idea of Craig - Victorino - Cespedes blocking both Bradley and Betts. That's a pretty old OF two of which are likely not here after next year.
  13. Buchholz Rubby De La Rosa Workman Webster Ranaudo Taking what someone just posted that we're left with as a starting point. Replace one of Buch or Workman with Owens. This can't be the rotation we're gonna rock out with from Opening Day, right? Top pitching FAs are Scherzer and Shields. Both are >30 so can we assume the Sox aren't offering more than 4 years? No way they get either.
  14. That was one huge f***ing firesale. I've never seen a team trade away so much of it's rotation before. Let me know of any comparisons out there. Really disappointed with the return, disappointed with the lack of Moneyball type players. Really questioning the plan for 2015 - they must be hoping for something in FA because what we got today is relative crap as far as building a winning team is. If that's the intention - buy a quick winner - then they are going in the opposite direction than I want - acquire good prospects and build a young controllable core.
  15. It's Manny 2.0 with a lesser bat.
  16. What rating do you give him?
  17. Jesus Motherf***ing Christ.
  18. I understand the theory of a salary dump, but really, not even a half-assed prospect? Someone young with just an inkling of potential? KJ is just a warm body for two months.
  19. What you're missing is the Sox philosophy of not giving 30 year old pitchers more than 4 years. No way they win the bidding if they stick to that. He's getting at least six years offered by someone else, guaranteed. The ESPN guy interviewed on the radio said he might give up one year, but not two. And if they break that philosophy....well, what was the point of lowballing him in the first place?
  20. Between this and saying Cespedes plays good D I'm beginning to question your baseball smarts. I don't like the trade because it wasn't just Lester, we gave up Gomes too and the other part coming back is a low draft pick. Cespedes doesn't hit for enough average, this is now two years of sub .800 OPS, and his DWAR is close to zero. He literally is all or nothing, the type of player I thought we were avoiding? Add in the clause that turns him into a FA next year and this deal is ridiculously bad. I know Lester's a rental but he was one of the top two arms on the market. Cherries should have been squeezing the other GMs for something better than what we got.
  21. Any idea why we wanted Johnson? Useless bat and a FA after the season. Couldn't we have gotten something a little better?
  22. This Jeter lovefest from other teams sickens me. If it was me I'd give him a lead glove in honor of his defense.
  23. Henry seems pretty on board with not giving Lester more than four years. I understand the philosophy but I think they are gonna find it next to impossible to attract top FA pitching talent with it.
