Lowrie has had 13 AB against LHP, and 9 against RHP, including a start against Nova. Against RHP, he has hit a respectable .556. That being said, I completely agree that getting Crawford involved while facing a low-tier RHP is more important than Lowrie getting one extra AB right now.

I want to throw this one back out there. Varitek 3 starts at C, 3 quality starts. Salty 9 starts at C, 1 quality start.

Wow, that was a great play by Lowrie, but not quite there.

I'm not worrying about Clay. He's allowed 4, 4, 3 ER in his first 3 starts. Not great by any means, but that's not a complete disaster. Francona has explicitly said he didn't get enough work during ST (thus limiting his pitch count) and it looks like his stuff just isn't there yet, but I get the feeling he'll get it back.
