  1. Yeah, its kind of skipping
  2. That can't be right...
  3. Looking over the stats, I do not agree with the Varitek comparison. He had a rough first half in the first half of his rookie year--but most rookies struggle a little bit early on. But then, he came back with a .785 OPS after the ASB of that year. Saltalamacchia is in his 5th year in the majors, not his first.
  4. I just assumed Dojji had solid facts, I didn't look it up, my bad.
  5. “It’s going to be tough to throw 17 scoreless innings in my next outing to keep pace,” -Buchholz
  6. Why? Why couldn't we have gotten Barajas/Buck/Olivo?
  7. Citing Doumit's CERA in Pittsburgh is a little unfair:lol: I actually mentioned a similar line to your prediction of 12 HR/.260 hitting. And while I agree that those kind of numbers would be acceptable, those are not the kind of numbers that you patiently wait for while a guy struggles for months. Its one thing if a guy has a great potential, but Salty's ceiling seems extremely low for the amount he's hurting this team.
  8. Note to self: when Red Sox are streaking, be careful opening game threads at work.
  9. Wow, the mods got him quick.
  10. I just noticed that. Putting up these numbers against such a tough lineup-- pretty impressive.
  11. Sure, but Damon was a Red Sox player who went to the team's biggest rival. What allegiance did CC have to L.A. ? I think this would be funny if Tampa did it, but Angels fans have no right to be angry with him.
  12. This, a million times this. I'd like to consider myself one of the more optimistic posters around here, and look at the potential there is in players, but this is getting ridiculous. 1) He is good at nothing. I hesitate to call him a "zero tool player" but he seems to be close. No power, can't block pitches, has no arm, can't call a good game, no speed. 2) His minor league stats aren't anything special. He's about a .250 BAA/ .780 OPS hitter in AA/AAA. Best case scenario, he might end up hitting 10-15 HR a year, and hold a .750 OPS. Is a that really worth the serious defensive liability he is right now? Maybe. But how many months of black hole offense/defense is it going to take to get him there? I'm weighing risks/rewards, and I just don't see it. If we're going with a catcher who is completely worthless defensively, why not see what it'll take to get Doumit from Pittsburgh?
  13. I don't know what they're angry about... Vernon Wells has a higher OPS right now
  14. I agree with this 100%. When a catcher is so scared of his own arm that he lobs throws to the pitcher, it cannot help the pitchers be confident in him.
  15. And Varitek too? While Dice-k is pitching a gem? I need to buy a lottery ticket.
  16. He also threw 30 pitches more in that outing. I think between the low pitch count, and his current, more balanced between-start regiment, its a very different situation. That being said, no way in hell he does it again tonight. This.
  17. My guess on Dice-k is 5 innings of 3 run ball, followed by two innings of wakefield, and some combination of scrubs. And yet the offense will carry them for a win!
  18. Haren, Gio Gonz, Anderson, Sabathia, Hellickson, Price, CJ Wilson, Carmona... Somehow, in 18 games, the Sox have faced a good number of aces, and quite a few number twos. However, I still can't explain the Cleveland series.
  19. There is no volume on my tv-- what are they saying about putting him in for a third consecutive game?
