    My math is just fine, I rounded down. Tex has one good day, and he's above those numbers. Complaining about small differences in May really isn't constructive. And as I mentioned earlier, not every player will have a career year every year, so comparing stats to one isolated year is not constructive either. The only player you have any case with for underperformance is Swisher.

    Are you kidding me? Cano is hitting ABOVE career averages. Texiera OPS is 3% off from career averages, who cares? Martin was damaged goods, Posada is a 39 year old catcher, and Gardner's stats are still recovering from an early season slump. A-rod is hurt, and even if, his stats have been declining for a few years now because he's 36 years old and doesn't have the benefit of steroids anymore. The only player that is truly slumping is Swisher, and Granderson is making up for him.

    5 all-star games. 5 silver sluggers. 5ish World Series rings. All without any allegations that he did steroids? Two of his closest peers at C have been implicated, and that's a big part of the reason why I think he has a pretty solid chance.

    For all those keeping track at home.... Josh Beckett leads the AL in ERA (1.75), hits per nine innings (5.4) and is fourth in WHIP (0.896) and sixth in K's per nine innings (8.59).

    I'm fully aware of who is good and who is not. Unfortunately, the moves that this team makes regarding the bullpen defy logic in favor of loyalty.

    I disagree. He's proven himself to be the perfect journeyman 5th/6th inning reliever. He can give you long relief, and he can keep you in the game. In 2010, he only gave up more than 2 runs in one appearance. He'll never be a great reliever, and good may be pushing it, but as a 5th/6th/7th option out of the pen for middle innings, this guy is everything you could ask for.

    You do understand that your whole team can't have career years every year, right? Tex/Cano/Gardner are all fairly close to where their numbers should be, and A-rod is turning 36 soon

    I'm fully convinced that between Doubront/Hill/Atchison/Aceves/Tazawa/Miller/Duckworth/Bowden hell, even Bard that we MUST have a better option in the rotation than Wakefield.

    I don't know who thinks there are options available that are "great". But the simple fact is, Salty is a complete bust who provides nothing. Its not about getting a great player, or even a good player, but getting something--anything--out of the C position.
