  1. You know, its funny, my first post at Talksox was a long thread bitching and whining about the training staff being incompetent, and that was before 2010 happened. Theo has done his job, its the conditioning coaches that have really ruined this team over the last few years.
  2. This team is going to put itself back together tomorrow.
  3. On the bright side... if the Red Sox do make it to the playoffs, they won't have to face the Ray's pitching staff.
  4. Give me one piece of hard evidence that the Red Sox aren't making big profits. One. That's all I ask for.
  5. Theo Epstein is the reason for the success of the organization. We so quickly forget that he was the one who got this team David Ortiz, Curt Schilling, Kevin Millar, and won the first world series for this team in nearly a century. He has drafted what is very possibly the best core of players in baseball, and won another world series with them. Theo Epstein is the reason why Fenway has been sold out for years. Theo Epstein's success is the reason iortiz feels so f***ing entitled to another World Series.
  6. Why can't there be a mercy rule in MLB?
  7. Fenway park has been sold out how many years with Theo? The Red Sox have been incredibly profitable with him at the helm. Case closed.
  8. I'm at work, but I'll be trying to track this tonight. You know, Weiland is the Red Sox's #2 pitching prospect afterall, maybe he can show his worth after a great first?
  9. I had no problem with your argument-- I was referring to iortiz.
  10. Seriously man, what more do you think the ownership group could ask from Theo? Sure, you can complain all day about not winning a world series, but he's made them plenty of money, and has prepared this team to make the ownership group lots of money in the future. Whether or not they win the world series... business is good.
  11. From what I understand, tickets and concessions goes to the team, and then the tv money is split up between every team, with playoff teams getting a bigger piece of the pie. I would have to dig it up after work, but it is available online somewhere, I definitely remember reading it. The actual dollar figure aren't shown, but it tells you what percentage each teams get. edit: Or maybe that's just player shares... hmm.. I'll continue looking.
  12. Calm down everyone. It was a John Lackey start, the Sox were supposed to lose.
  13. I agree, by all means. But, what can be done at this point?
  14. Most of the Lackey supporters don't say things like that. We're more likely to defend him if he keeps the Sox in the game (like this game, for example). Everyone in their right mind knows he's had a terrible season, and having a WHIP of 2.00 during a game is terrible.
  15. Congrats. You're going to love it up here.
  16. Excellent post.
  17. Yeah, there are a ton of great sports bars around that area. We usually go to Boston Beer Works--who have lots of their own brews-- but I've yet to go any that I haven't been happy with.
  18. I don't remember when tickets go on sale, but I would recommend signing up for redsox.com's newsletters for updates on that-- personally, if they didn't e-mail me, I'd forget. Getting tickets is wayyyy easier than people make it out to be. If you go to a weeknight game, acetickets/stubhub usually sell tickets well below face value versus divisional opponents. There also an absolute ton of people selling tickets down there. As far as good food-- sometimes I feel like you can't throw a rock in Boston without hitting a good restaurant.
  19. When I get home tonight, I think its time to create a Scutaro Appreciation Thread. Seriously, 350 OBP? He'll be back next year for sure.
