  1. I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but has anyone talked about Middlebrook's early opposition? It seems like the perfect opportunity for the Red Sox to call him up-- when has a chance to play against AAAA players. The Red Sox should take advantage of stretches like this when they are playing several teams to give their younger players a chance to test on middling major league competition.
  2. This should be a tough game for the Sox. Masterson is an entirely different pitcher from either side. With Ellsbury and Crawford out, its up to Ortiz and Agon to have good games today.
  3. I thought this meant Henry gave the team all ipods to go with their headphones.
  4. Dear Sabathia, Why can't you be more like Josh Beckett? Please? Pal.
  5. I agree with SFF. This team has really bad luck.
  6. That's the thing, it seems almost as if he planned on taking the start off, like he had built up this lie the week before, and stuck to it.
  7. Also, here's something else. If I do this, my boss can fire my ass. What on earth can we do about Beckett? Nothing.
  8. I think Beckett has not helped his development, that's for certain. Buchholz has poor composure on the mound, and only gets by with his great stuff. Have you ever looked at Buchholz and said to yourself "This guy is going to be a bigtime leader in the clubhouse" ? I fully admit I've never met the guy, but he seems like very much the kind of person who is not a leader, but a follower. After being arrested for stealing those laptops all those years ago, his words were "That was a mistake. I was hanging out with the wrong person". Old habits die hard.
  9. Put it into perspective though. Its one thing to skip a bullpen session, or practice, but a game is a game. Have you ever called out sick on a day when you were making a big presentation, or had an important meeting to go to? He only has to go out there one day a week, maybe two. If I had a job that only absolutely needed me once a week, in front of millions of fans, I would show up that one day a week. After his last start, Beckett complained that "It's kind of been there for about a week, kind of leading into my last start," Beckett said. "On your start day, you can always make yourself believe that things are better than they are. I really wanted to pitch. I just ended up making things worse." So, he's hurting the week before, and he skips his start because of the soreness... and goes out and does an activity that could potentially make it worse?
  10. Upper bleachers, L41. I usually go for the cheap tickets-- Its way more fun to see ten games at $10 a piece than two games at $50 a piece.
  11. His replacement gave up 7 runs over two innings while he was out golfing, and he got hammered by Detroit. Just because he's had a little luck against Minnesota and Chicago doesn't make him consistent.
  12. I have tickets for the game tomorrow night. And I'm going to scream terrible things at the top of my lungs.
  13. Beckett is done in Boston. He's a f***ing piece of s*** that needs to go. I don't give a crap about anything he's done in the past, or what his talent level could be. This is inexcusable. If I was John Henry, I'd have his ass traded to some team in a third world country where it is always cold, and fans will throw rocks at you for stuff like this. You know what the worst part is? 9.09 ERA Buchholz is teeing off right next to him. That's the worst part, he's bringing the whole team down with him. Its time to move on, some other team is going to want him. I'd eat the money just for the pleasure of trading him to the friggen Pirates. When Manny did stuff like this, the organization was trying so hard to trade him out. But you know what? Atleast Manny still hit like a hall of famer. Beckett is Texas white trash, mediocre garbage.
  14. Last I checked, he had a .925 OPS with Houston.
  15. Salem is absolutely stacked with talent right now. Barnes, Bradley, Boegarts, Jacobs, among others. The Red Sox may be trying to play those guys together since they could possibly end up playing together in the big leagues.
  16. Bard has been cruising all game, and Fat Albers gives up 3 runs with two pitches.
  17. Salty would not have made that play.
  18. At this rate, Bard could get through 8. Wouldn't it be great to see Bard be the setup man every fifth day?
  19. If a guy hits three home runs, do you really pitch to him again the rest of the night?
  20. Woah, Sweeney is still hitting to a .950 OPS.
  21. Don't worry everyone. Shoppach is catching. This should be an easy win.
