  1. Maggadan isn't the problem. The offense is off balanced because they've played against Strasburg, Josh Johnson, Gonzalez, Buerhle, Zimmerman, and Dempster, all with guys like Podsednik, Nava, Aviles, Mcdonald in the lineup. If there is one coach on this team worth a damn that would be Maggadan.
  2. The Red Sox are 2nd in the majors in runs, and 5th in OPS, all without Ross, Ellsbury, and Crawford. Red Sox hitters have always done a good job. No reason to blame Magadan because of injuries and Gonzalez.
  3. How long did Theo have a hard-on for Saltalamacchia? He's been hitting very well lately, perhaps he'd prefer him and another mid sized piece to Lavarnway?
  4. Perhaps I came about it the wrong way, but its not cheesy at all. What I'm saying is that if you're the kind of person who goes into pink-hat-hibernation whenever the team isn't playing so well, then you have absolutely no right to tell the people who watch all 82 games-- win or lose-- that their team should lose 360 games for the next five years. Based on everything you post here, I get the feeling you'd be bored of the Celtics before the end of the second year of terrible play. I definitely admit that I'd be bored long before that, so don't take offense, but from your posts here, that's the way it seems. You've mentioned that sports have taken a back seat to other parts of your life, and you're the kind of person who seriously enjoys superstars--something the Celtics would not have for a long long time. In the end, I'm glad it isn't your decision to make, because I believe you'd be making the wrong one.
  5. Let me ask you something. When Pierce went down, and the Celtics had that historically bad season... How many games did you watch? Did you suffer through the blowouts, and all the shitshows? Did you feel the heartbreaking crush of when they picked up the f***ing fifth seed after the worst season in franchise history? Or did you throw in the towel and start rooting for the Lakers? Only true fans should be allowed to make a call like "Let's be the worst team in the NBA for four straight years in order to be good". Are you a true fan? How many blowout losses did you sit through?
  6. In all fairness, he did have a three game hitting streak in early June.
  7. Felix. Buch's ceiling is a 1, the way he has been pitching. Plus, he's a groundball pitcher, so if he ever sees a Iggy/Middlebrooks/Pedroia/Agon defense, who knows how good he can be.
  8. If he continues to improve, I'd bet he could be a #2 pitcher in the National League by next year. But having him as a damn good #4 works for me.
  9. We could need one of those big strikeouts right about now.
  10. So you'd rather be absolutely terrible for 4 years, than be decent for 5 years? I don't think there is anything left for me to say at this point.
  11. Generally the rule of thumb is that you don't pull a pitcher if he hasn't given up a hit. They had to take out Millwood after he pulled his groin, supposedly.
  12. Whew. His pitch count was just too high tonight, it would have been painful to see him pulled in the 8th with 130 pitches.
  13. I usually don't pay attention to that kind of thing early in the game. Now it is the point where it makes a difference.
  14. Woah s***!!! Look at the box score!
  15. If they weren't the Red Sox and Yankees, this would be actually be a better fit than some realize. The Yankees don't have much of a DH right now, do they? It would fill a big need for them, and since Ortiz is only on a one year deal, they get a good bat, and stay flexible if they need to DH Arod in the future. On the other hand, the Red Sox are seriously lacking pitching depth in the upper minors-- something the Yankees have a good amount of. All things considered, it would take Banuelos and either Betances or two high ceiling pitcher for me to make that trade. You don't give the Yankees a franchise player and a shot at the championship for anything less.
  16. Hey guys, we're not selling many tickets today. How about we put Promotheus up during the game tonight?
  17. With Daniel Nava out, this offense is going to be quiet.
  18. Buchholz helping his own cause with a solid bunt.
  19. Way to force an error McDonald!!
