My concern is he blocks a bigger move down the road should Miggy or Gonzalez hit the market. I disagree that Theo will get a good deal on him so that means the guy will be a main stay for some time. If he can be had for the 2yrs @ $7-9M per I'm for this move otherwise, pass and wait for something bigger, even if it means mid-season.
Beltre rejected arbitration which would have guaranteed him about $13M for one year, he won't be signing for 2 yrs @ 7-9M per. I agree with you that that is about the max he should get but Boras has a way...
I haven't seen that Scutaro's been offered arbitration yet. If he doesn't cost any picks and they can pick him up on a one year deal it may not be so bad to have him in there until Lowrie is ready to come back.
Theriot, Furcal and Alexei Ramirez all deserve mention also. Not studs but they are better tha what we've had the past few years. Maybe that is why Theo invested so much in a guy that projects to be Omar Vizquel at best...
I'm really impressed by his bat speed through the zone. He doesn't swing wildly (based n the few ABs I've seen) but he just misses on some of those swings. If he makes some regular contact he should be a keeper.
Got ya, I'm speaking about what we know so far based on ML performance and so far it looks like Gardner could step right in and the Yankees don't miss Gardner. Iglesias still hase something to prove IMO, then again, so does Lowrie.
