  1. Scott Downs, Leo Nunez, Matt Lindstrom, Kevin Gregg, Brandon League
  2. Catcher has been a blackhole offensively since V-Mart went out. For a team that has seen its runs per game drop about a 1.5 runs per game this month, the combined sub .150 average from Cash, Brown, and Molina isn't cutting it
  3. Putting scrubs like Wake and Bowden in the pen isn't going to help, Theo needs to trade for someone. And I hope he doesn't BS people about this being a bridge year b/c the bullpen will need help next year too; add a guy that will be here as more than a 1/2 year rental.
  4. Wakefield needs to retire, he's nothing but pure garbage now. I could live with his mediocrity for 15 years, but now he just sucks. Thank god he's getting out of the rotation. As for Bowden, I don't know why he keeps getting shots b/c he is pure garbage also. I don't know how many chances and blown games this guy needs to prove to the FO that he isn't a major league quality pitcher
  5. f*** s*** bum Wakefield, its a joke that he'll end up owning so many Sox records when he sucks so much.
  6. No way in hell Ortiz takes that deal
  7. Pick up his extension and see if he can do this again next year. If you extend him you lose out of big free agent power hitters like Gonzalez and Fielder, or even Dunn. I know 12.5 is expensive for a 35 year old DH, but its better and safer than tying him up for the long run. I'm assuming Ortiz will have a decent enough second half to put up 30 homers and 100 RBI and be deserving of consideration of being brought back.
  8. He was a fans owner, as a Yankees fan you gotta love the guy b/c he did whatever it took and spent whatever it had to take to make the Yankees winners again. Sure you can hate the guy for being the Yankees owner, but if he was say, the Red Sox owner we would all love this guy. I loved nothing more than seeing him freak when the Sox beat the Yanks during the 03 or 04 years, but I still respect the guy. He was a generous guy and I never forget that he allowed the Sox and their fans to party in Yankees Stadium after the 04 0-3 comeback
  9. Beckett wasn't 31 and trending downwards when we brought him over though
  10. TA is purely a one dimensional bench player, its not that big of a loss
  11. TA is probably going to sign with the Grizzlies
  12. Vasquez sucks, Hughes is going to have his innings limited, Burnett sucks, Pettite is gonna fall a part. There is 4 issues right there for the Yankees rotation
  13. I knew he would be a bad signing b/c I knew he would continue to decline, i didn't think he would be this bad in year 1, but by the end of the deal he would be unbearable. His K's per 9 are down, his Walk: K ratio is worsening, and his the number of pitching he gets swing and misses at are down 5%.
  14. He continues his string of pretty much pitching well every other start. Once Beckett and Clay our back, I can live with that from Dice-K as the 5
  15. I didn't say he would be a bust, i said he wouldn't have been my first choice to go after. Second, 17 million dollars sure gets you s*** these days. But the quality start crap away, we need this guy to pitch well against inferior teams and he doesn't show up.
  16. We migth run out of time though, I mean guys like Beckett and V-Mart could be back soon, but Pedrioa is still a month away and who knows with Ellsbury. I could be the middle of August before the whole team is healthy again, and by then it could be too big a lead with too little time
  17. I'd love to see the Sox add worth and make Cameron the 4th OF. But what would the cost be?
  18. Another bad start today, any day the Sox lose b/c of Theo's signing. Before his start today his ERA was 4.40 and his WHIP was over 1.50, god knows how bad his stats will look now after the stinker he threw up today. This isn't a hindsight reaction, because I knew this would turn out to be a bad signing. Over the past several years he has been pitching less; making less starts and throwing less innings, while is ERA has gone up. I guess that when you trend downward after 30 you deserve a 5 year deal. I guess 17 million gets us mediocrity at best. Theo should have just up upped the ante for Holliday and/or traded for another starter.
  19. Deadly as in somone on the team is gonna contract AIDS? It could be until August before we start rolling again when the bodies start coming back to health
  20. Still need more big man depth, but this is a great move and he'll be the starting Center until Perkins comes back. What do you expect out him though for most of the year? How many minutes, 20,25,30? What kind of production do you expect? 12/10, 12/8? I think as a 5th option, he'll be great. He struggeled in Miami because he had to be the number two option behind Wade, he isn't that type of guy anymore. I love his role here in Boston and i think he'll thrive. C's want to bring back Tony Allen and Nate Robinson as well
  21. Mark Stuart is coming back for one year at 1.675 million. He was pretty steady when he wasn't hurt last year. He's not a bad puck mover either, Chara-Seidenburg, Boychuk, Stuart, Hunwick, Ference. Thats not a bad defense at all
  22. And of course Nadal won, his 2nd Wimbledon and his 8th Grand Slam overall.
  23. Those won't work out like the C's big three b/c all these guys are still young and still in the primes of their careers. But who gives a damn, this team will be stacked, if this team doesn't get the Finals is an absolute joke. Heat-Lakers will still be a damn good series. I'm surprised LBJ decided to join "Wade's Team". To some it will seem like LeBron went to another mans to team to get his ring and couldn't do it on his own. I hate to see how badly he is bashed if this trio can't bring in at least one title during their tenure I think this first year will be a feeling out year for the Heat, for probably the first couple of months I could see the having some issues dividing up the shots and figuring out who gets the ball when. But when that team meshes, watch out. They will win 60-65 games next year and will lose in the Finals to the Lakers. But the year after, I'm saying they could win at least 70 if not break the 72 win regular season record. Thats when the championships will starting coming into Miami.
  24. At least we got Youk back!
  25. The this being a bridge year comment from Theo in the offseason really pissed me off, and he better not have that attitude at the trade deadline. We have seen what this team can do with half the team on the DL, and that is hang in there; when everyone is healthy, they Sox should be a contender for the pennant. Just get into the damn playoffs, who cares how you do it. Don't throw this year away by not making a trade, even when the team is all back, there are still needs, such as bullpen help or backup middle infielder
