  1. Nothing bolded shows where I've said he's not going to improve, or have another hot streak. That is the epitome of reading between the lines. You couldn't have magnified my point any better for me... But then you kept typing, and said EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS ENTIRE TIME. School's out.
  2. If you're not good, you're s*****. It's all about subjectivity. Feel free to squabble over why my definition for good and s***** are highly uneducated and flawed with poor logic if you like.
  3. Well for starters, you're imposing your subjectivity to the term "s*****". League average doesn't even apply to shittiness. I'd like to see where I said it won't happen again. I said essentially that it may or may not. Or where I said he can't improve. I haven't seen anything to suggest either of those things would happen, that's all I said. You and everyone else has a nasty habit of trying to read between the lines.
  4. Anyways, that OPS is where I could see, if not a good deal more. But you should have seen some of the posters here telling everyone he's an elite catcher, for 3 months. Some posters even said he was sucky, then jumped on the wagon when he got hot. Basically, I'm going to let a 3 month stretch be the deciding factor in what I see. He's still mediocre.
  5. True, not tough to improve on that. \o/
  6. Age does not equal to expectations for imrovement. He's had one "good" season, and even then he was nothing special. I'll say Salty is an able major league player when he reproduces last year or better.
  7. League average is s*****, and slightly above average is still s*****. I don't discredit the hot streak, it happened, don't know where you pulled that out of, or how much it hurt to do so. Doesn't matter what Bill James projects, I'm pretty sure it's not a fool proof formula. His career has yet to inspire hope. Spin it whatever way you like, but Salty is mediocre overall. His bat doesn't make up for how much of a butcher he is.
  8. What? At AAA? Not in the bigs. He hasn't inspired any hope. He was "above average" OPS for his position only because of that 3-month stretch. His career isn't giving me any reason to expect improvement. He's an above average hitting catcher and sucks behind the plate, there's not much else you can expect out of him. I don't excuse a s***** OPS just because he's a catcher, even less impressive is that it still sucked despite the hot stretch.
  9. You expect Salty to be better? He's been awful. The only reason he was as good as that was a 3 month span where his slg% went up by 200 points. Not banking on that performance to be repeated.
  10. Why wouldn't he play for his next contract? If he plays like s***, no one's going to give him s***. And yeah, the same goes for everyone in their late 30s, the question about whether they produce or not. Thats why its a 1 year deal.
  11. I can definitely see this team winning 95 games and taking the division. I am not going to go as far as to say Bard is going to improve over the previous standard of #4 pitchers by that much. Even if it's not that difficult, anything could happen as a starter. Either way, I see the pitching improving 3-5 (since Buch is back now, hopefully for the entirety of the year) but I'm never sold on Beckett. Hard to not see Lester improving, if not at least being solid. This team IMO should finish much better than last year. It's going to take Ross busting and Crawford struggling to keep this team from winning about 90-95 games. I don't expect Ells to be as good or for Ortiz to be a monster again, but the rest of the team rebounding should be able to overcome that and then some. Not to say I wouldn't like a new starter or a SS, but this still works.
  12. It's human nature to get bent out of shape when strangers criticize your POV or your opinions.
  13. I don't, he insults everyone, and that's why he gets it back in return.
  14. Same as any other board. It's just the way it goes, everyone takes everything personally online. It's the reason why trolling exists.
  15. That applies how? The guy's impossible to like. He just sounds like some bitter old baby boomer who thinks everyone who doesnt agree with him is a "rumpswab".
  16. I dunno, I thought it was kind of funny. Sorry you took it personally.
  17. it's getting to the point where someone should make a montage of you two along the lines of the theme from Laverne & Shirley. @ortiz/a700
  18. That is just gold. Well done.
