I don't think he's ever going to be a power hitter. But considering he was in a slump much of last year, I don't think that 9 HR, .394 slugging is the kind of hitter he'll be. He slugged .425 in his young 20's in the minors.

Yeah, there's a bullpen coach, a pitching coach, and a hitting coach for a reason. The manager's main job is mostly to keep the player's motivated and protect them in the media and with umpires.
Yeah, from what I've seen he goes a little overboard on anything injury related with the Red Sox. I think he likes it because it's all subjective and we can't prove him wrong with any objective stats.
