  1. I think it's easy to conclude that it was a bonehead play because it allowed 2 runs to score and the batter to reach base safely. Why did he do it? My guess is a that he saw Gonzo with the big lead and thought he could get him. If he had, the lead runner is gone with men on 1st and 2nd. A ground ball at that point may end the inning.
  2. Has anyone here actually seen him play?
  3. Care to elaborate champ?
  4. I don't expect anything from Dice-K this year. I am disappointed that Wake's back will probably keep him from contributing. At least we have Byrd!
  5. Dice-K struggles in minor-league rehab start 6:24 PM Sun, Aug 30, 2009 | Permalink Joe McDonald Email BOSTON _ While the Red Sox beat up on the Blue Jays and Roy Halladay on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park, Daisuke Matsuzaka was just north of here, making a rehab start for Double-A Portland at Manchester, N.H. The rehabbing right-hander, who has been on the DL since June 20 with a shoulder strain, worked only two innings and allowed five runs on four hits with three walks, two strikeouts and a home run. Dice-K is slated to start for the PawSox on Friday and to return to the Boston rotation on Sept. 9. As per Projo.
  6. And yet had 5 RBI and a grand slam.
  7. Does Byrd start the 6th? He hasn't gone past 80 pitches so far this year. What's he up to now?
  8. Until this inning, decent. Out of it!
  9. I'll get bored with it soon. Remember, I'm old school.
  10. What? No walk? RBI sac fly. 3-0.
  11. So about one Gom.
  12. :D:D:D:D No. Local shop, "Ricco's".
  13. A walk! I'm excited!
  14. Just chillin watching the game. I just fed my daughter and ordered a pizza for myself and my son.
  15. A lucid, well thought out rebuttal. Your post made it sound like Rocco would be replaced by Gathright. I like both players. Christ, I remember when they were teammates. He does bring athleticism and that is always good. I just don't think that it is a big move or upgrade. OK?
  16. Two sharply hit balls to start the 9th with only a 3 run lead.
  17. Well this sucks.
  18. Ummm....No. Gathright has world class speed but little else. He is a 1 tool player. He was quite promising when he came up with Tampa but never learned how to hit or get on base is any way. He has never stolen more than 22 bases in any season because of this. And no one keeps a guy on the team for pinch running purposes anymore. The Finley experiment crashed and burned.
  19. If it weren't for the blown call at first, Buch would have a no-no going into the 5th. Lots of swing and misses.
  20. Red Sox get OF Gathright in trade with Orioles (AP) – 44 minutes ago BALTIMORE — The Boston Red Sox have obtained minor league outfielder Joey Gathright from the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named or cash. The deal was completed Saturday. Gathright has 428 games of major league experience, including 20 this season with the Chicago Cubs. The 28-year-old speedster was traded by the Cubs to the Orioles in May for Ryan Freel, but Gathright never played a game for Baltimore. After coming over from Chicago, Gathright was immediately assigned to Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, where he hit .329 with 24 steals, 11 doubles and 20 RBIs in 80 games.
  21. I embedded the video of car jumping up thread.
