I'm not so sure that he is underrated, so much that he remains somewhat unproven at this level.

If they had traded for Wigginton when Pedroia went down (as I had suggested) they would have had more production at 2nd base and a replacement for Youk (that can run!) now.

That's how I feel. But he has been "better" lately. He's gone from a bag of suck to a box of cherries.;)

The Twins are very hot. The Sox are trying to tread water and maybe make-up some ground. Meanwhile, the twins have won something like 9 in a row.

I was on the fence about signing Shaq. Given all the s*** the Boston media (print, mostly) has been saying about him. Particularly that twit Gasper. As if he ever played the game. That's when I decided to think for myself. Shaq has always had some weak points to his game. But low post defense and rebounding ar not among them. These are two areas that the Celt's have been lacking in recently and now that Perk is down until January or February, this move was essential. Not to mention that he's going to score more than any low post player in green since Parish or McChale.

Ortiz will be back. 2/14 -2/18 should go it. V-Mart should be back. 4/48-4-54, hopefully. Beltre is likely gone. He won't take what the Sox will likely offer him.

Official? No. But. If one reads what the Doctors have said, Youk is gone for at least six weeks (assuming that he has a partial tear and not a rupture). He needs surgery either way. He's gone. Two weeks? That's fiction. Again, who replaces or supplants Youk's offensive production for the rest of the season?
