  1. I find the idea of Buch procreating terrifying. We have too many dunces in this country already!
  2. I suspect that you are correct as usual. If they wanted Salty back they would have made the offer. Apparently they probably knew that he would accept otherwise they would have made an offer so they could get a compensatory pick. Can a team receive more than one compensatory pick in the same year? I think that this is ironic because for several years the Sox had a boner for Salty and or Teagarden when they were both young catchers for Texas. They finally got their man, I guess. Then they decided to let him go in favor of roster flexibility and the two young catchers in the system. I am still a fan of his. He has flaws but he was a good team mate and a good citizen. Plus he made strides in both phases of the game while here.
  3. It's all foolishness. Who wants to see ping pong balls be taken out of a drum? They used to show it. Cleveland just got lucky with all their balls. I don't believe that any of the top picks are "franchise players' but don't follow armature ball enough to really know. GO CELTICS!
  4. He's not in AAA to tear it up. He's there to get some experience and seasoning at the plate versus higher level pitching. We have all heard that he is MLB ready behind the plate. I can't wait to see him in Boston either late this year or next season.
  5. I think that he may be the only power hitting prospect in the system. I hope that he makes progress in Pawtucket by seeing near-major league quality pitching.
  6. I think that it's kind of cool! The weather here in eastern Mass is lousy. High Forties, overcast, and drizzle. I hope that they get this game in. GO SOX!
  7. This is how I feel in this matter. Why punish Remy for the criminal acts of his Son? I'd fall on a sword for either of my kids. Fortunately, both are good human beings and I have had no cause to intercede in their lives to protect them.
  8. Is this is the game that he got hurt running from 1st to 2nd? If so, his injury was just part of the game. I seem to remember him pulling up lame with a hamstring or other leg injury. I don't think that is cause to label him a pansy. I remember when he was sent in to pinch run that ill fated time. It was justified by the Sox as Buch being the fastest available option. The Sox and the media were quick to point out that Buch was viewed as the best "overall" athlete on the team. In any case, I think that his lack of brain power is his primary short coming. The Kid is a dope.
  9. They just did not want him. Regardless of price. My opinion.
  10. LOL! I just came to this thread to post exactingly what you wrote!!! I did not hear of a knee problem until this article. Okay!
  11. I said essentially the same thing several days ago. In this market, the fan base expects a team to be competitive and to be in contention for a playoff birth. This is not Houston or K.C. Drew makes the Sox a better team. PERIOD. If poor little Dutch boy has his ego bruised because he had to move 40 feet to the right then I have no use for him on the team that I follow. I think X knows the score.
  12. If you actually watch all of the games and not look at advanced metrics ( which are based on subjective assessments, incidentally ) Bogaerts looks pretty bad. His range to the left is inadequate and his throws ( other than on seemingly routine plays ) are not good. He looks like what he is. A young, inexperienced shortstop with defensive deficiencies.
  13. My guess is that Perdroia is not hitting well because of a lingering wrist injury. He has not been the same hitter since the original injury. Cordesone injections reduce swelling temporarily. However, the root cause of the inflammation remains. Pedroia is hurt.
  14. Welcome to the rogue state.
  15. Now comes the moment of truth!!! Bottom of the 9th!!!!! I can taste victory!!!
  16. Wild pitching, good at bats, and timely hits have combined to give the Sox a late lead. If a Sox pitcher is going to get chased early, at least there is plenty of time left to get back into the game. Although I did not expect Santana to lose it so abruptly. Boo hoo!
  17. It is said by the Sox that Mujica is more effective when he pitches on a more frequent basis. He's been getting a lot of work in the last week or so. Maybe he is getting back to what he showed the first half last season with the Cards? In any case, I am nervous for the first time in quite a while. The Sox can win this game!!!! I have my fingers crossed.
  18. The Keystone Sox!!!! One ugly play after another. This is an embarrassment.
  19. Well this is certainly ugly. How long will the Sox continue to send Buch out there? Clearly he has nothing. What can be done about this? He has no trade value and no options, I believe. Can he go on a phantom DL stint? This is not fun to watch. Number 11 coming up. I was wrong. Buch did not last 4 1/3. Yikes.
  20. How long before Buch completely implodes today? I say he is gone by 4 1/3 innings. I hope that I am wrong! GO SOX!
  21. I don't see the connection either. Although it should be obvious to any casual observer that it is difficult to run with strained hamstrings.
  22. Off to Atlanta to start a winning streak. Please?
