  1. It is quite possible that Lester, Lackey, and Peavy will be gone next year. I certainly hope that some of the hyped young arms in the system ( excluding Workman, he has arrived ) come through next year. If not, things will get much, much worse.
  2. I'm waiting to hear a700 say this is more of Ben's "dumpster diving". He is headed to single A ball to start out and must graduate from there. This move is not intended to bolster the current roster ( which is futile ). It is merely another organizational depth signing. At least I hope so!!!
  3. It's a minor league deal. Does anyone have to go at this point? If so, I say cut Sizemore.
  4. So it seems that Drew is now a lighting rod for criticism of the failing Sox. He's barely been on the field to contribute to the mess. There is plenty to blame for the Sox ineptitude. Why start with Drew?
  5. I think it's just another feeble attempt to appeal to younger fans. It's just stupid!
  6. Yeah something along these lines must be done. The game just drags on and on while batters constantly adjust their gloves and crap. This was very noticeable last night with Koji in the 9th. He worked so fast I had to pay attention!
  7. Let's all be thankful that their year is going even worse than the Sox'. What a mess that team is.
  8. Thanks. I read about it and saw the replay several time today. His stock is about to drop. Or at least his image will take a hit. What a douche. The tag at third on Friday was nothing to get upset about. Talented or not, the kid is a punk.
  9. I just saw this on BDC. I was wondering why Drew was in the lineup while not ready to hit! Pete Abraham @PeteAbe Also of interest: Farrell implied that a maximum 10-day minor league stint was negotiated for Drew. Ready or not, he was coming up. Jun. 9, 2014
  10. I guess that I am the only one that has any faith in Nava being able to get it fixed and to produce. 7-9 is scary. Although Herrera has show some life recently. I'm about done with the Sizemore experiment. Cut him loose.
  11. What did he do?
  12. Yes I believe this is his first game out in left Let's wish him well!!
  13. 1. Brock Holt LF 2. Xander Bogaerts 3B 3. Dustin Pedroia 2B 4. David Ortiz DH 5. Mike Napoli 1B 6. A.J. Pierzynski C 7. Daniel Nava RF 8. Stephen Drew SS 9. Jacke Bradley Jr. CF This is a pretty good lineup for the Sox when all are healthy and producing at or near career norms. I don't expect Drew or Napoli to hit with great efficiency anytime soon because of timing and injury issues. But that could change! Pedroia is hurt too no matter what anyone says!!! He knows how to hit and never forgets. I don't buy into the idea that he is on the "decline". He's just hurt again do to getting hit by a pitch and falling on his bad hand, I think. I hope his hand does not get worse. I think that Nava will start to hit again because he is a professional hitter not some scrub as so many on this board say. If he gets back to form and both Drew and Napoli start to hit as well this team has some pretty good offense. I have little confidence that Victorino will return and produce on a consistent basis because of the nature of his injuries. Hamstring problems tend to linger as we have seen before. Maybe I am wrong and I hope that I am. Let's all cut Holt some slack in LF and let him grow into the position before labeling him as a poor defensive outfielder. Can we do this?
  14. Wouldn't Rajai Davis look good in a Sox uniform!
  15. I think that he should be back in left field most of the time. I don't think that his 2013 hitting was a fluke. He has problems with his swing. That is a correctable fault.
  16. I ask why everyone is convinced that Holt's ceiling is just a utility player. What if he stays healthy and can his well enough to stay in the lineup? Why can't he be an everyday player? He may plummet to the Mendoza line but how come everyone is so sure that he won't keep hitting? So many people are in a hurry to see Betts and Ceccini. But Holt is here, now, and he is producing.
  17. I just don't see any dramatic changes in the Sox offense anytime soon. What you see now is what we will see for the remainder of the season. Yes, Napoli will return. But when he does, he won't be very effective, I suspect. That hand is messed up and I bet it will need surgery. Pedroia is hurt and he is not likely to come out. He'll just gut it out for the rest of the season. This team is just not build to win if everyone is not clicking. What is Ortiz's excuse? Will he continue to hit .250-.260 all season? So much for taking care of business big mouth.
  18. Just got home and heard that Zimmer has died. It was easy to make fun of the "Gerbil" because he looked kind of goofy and all. I always liked the guy and enjoyed watching him on the field. Rest in peace Zimm.
  19. This makes him a perfect fit for the Red Sox outfield!
  20. I read that he was the RH bat available to play outfield.
