  1. Oh. I was baffled until you explained that Ted. Usually when you use such adjectives the President is involved. It does seem to be unusual for a player to apologize for having an injury. Unless he punched an inanimate object in the dugout and sustained an injury out of stupidity. In any case, The Yankess, like the Sox, are not going to the playoffs this year. Weather he was out there every 5 days or not. I think that it is a mistake to attempt this "rehab". I certainly am no expert. To me a rehab would make sense as a first step for a common person such as myself. But a man that makes a living throwing pitches stands much less chance of returning to full functionality of the elbow than a shlep like me. I think that he should have surgery now so he can come back sooner. This rehab stuff will likely forestall his return. Maybe I am wrong? I suppose that I should be happy that a Yankee big ticket player is now on the shelf. But I believe that his presence and his performance has been good for baseball. So I think that this injury is regrettable and I wish the guy the best of luck. He should book an appointment with Andrews sooner rather than later. Just my opinions. I wonder what Jacko thinks? He is much better qualified to chime in.
  2. Who is a schmuck? I don't get it. I looked at the link.

  4. It was a typo. I suck at typing!
  5. Call me a cynic. While "coming home" to Ohio probably had some to do with Lebron's decision, I think it still came down to money and ego. The guy make loads of money in endorsements and wherever he was going to land he would have a huge max contract. I think that now that he will be back in Cleveland, even more money will be gained in licensed merchandise sales and other peripheral streams. And of course he has said that coming back to Cleveland makes him an even better leader. Lol. His ego is even bigger than his bank account. To those Cleveland fans who expect that a championship in the 2014-2015 season is automatic, you are wrong. The Cavs are in a pinch cap room wise and must scurry about finding more amiable trade partners ( like Ainge has been ) to dump their crap on to make room for at least one veteran impact player like Love. Even then, the team will likely not have the money to buy enough "horses" ( I quote Red here ) to win it all in the coming season. It will be interesting to see how they pull this off. I hope Ray Allen likes it there!!! I'm betting that Chris Bosh is heading for a max deal in Houston. Although the Rockets will have to work to make the fit worthwhile. Where does Wade go now? How about Carmello Anthony? Not Chicago!!!
  6. Mercy? Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! I don't think that the Sox will make the playoffs this year. Although if they do start to play well then they may be able to be spoilers in September.
  7. http://s7.zetaboards.com/stlouislegends/forum/50602/ Are you Carter on that site? I'll take a look.
  8. Lol! Well I want to tell you that I welcome you to Talksox. I don't care that you are a Cards fan. You are a baseball fan and that is what counts! That and being a decent person, that is! And as you know, I love your avatar!
  9. I just don't get the Timberwolves. If they move Love and don't get a massive return they are just telling the world that they have no intention of ever competing for a title. At least they got someone useful back when they moved Garnet to Boston. Although it was still lopsided.
  10. Oh well! I wonder what ESPN will do now that Lebron has decided and the World Cup is coming to a close? I like what Danny did in that "trade". Of course the Cleveland pick being top 10 protected means nothing anymore, I guess.
  11. This is all that I have been hoping for most of this season. Cheer up. Your front office seems to be on the ball and proactive. The Cards have a chance.
  12. Well AJ came with a reputation of being the worst teammate in baseball. I certainly can not speak to the validity of that title. He will get signed by someone and life will go on!!! Are you a member of redbirds.com? I was on that site briefly in 2010 and got banned simply because I was from Boston and everyone hated the Sox for trouncing the Cards in the World Series. Say hi to all the lovely and mature people on that site for me, will you please?
  13. The official word from the Sox was that AJ was not performing offensively the way that they had hoped when they signed him to be the bridge year catcher to either Vasquez ( AAA )or Swilhart ( AA ). Two highly regarded Catching prospect in our system. He had been in a massive slump with his BA going down about .030 or so. They wanted to see Vasquez in the bigs ( so they say ). So AJ was released. The Sox are on the hook for the remaining 3.6 mil of his contract for this year. Of course our lovely media in Boston now has reported that AJ was an outcast and did not fit in on this team. Apparently he favored playing with his iPhone to playing with his teammates. Also, his defense was unspectacular. Overall, the idea that he would be a suitable one year replacement for Salty was flawed. AJ never saw a pitch that he would not swing at. Especially first pitches. He did not work counts and get an occasional BB. Not exactly the Sox way of doing things. But the Sox knew this when they signed him. In all, his signing was a waste. Even so, most Sox fans are glad that Vasquez is now up with the big team.
  14. Not much chatter lately as the Sox continue to struggle. So I will voice one of my observations. The Sox execution of bunts ( for whatever intended purpose, get on base, advance a runner, etc. ) is plain pathetic. I realize that historically playing small ball has not been the Sox offensive MO. However, bunting is one of the fundamental skills of batting and the Sox just are not good at it! Yesterday Betts laid down a bunt to move Nava over to second base and scoring position. I was shocked when this happened and even more shocked that the bunt was a good one allowing Nava to get in position to score the game winning run. I'm not a huge fan of Herrera and was not happy when he was penned to be the Sox utility player. But now that he has been demoted to Pawtucket, no one else on the roster seems to be capable of squaring off a decent bunt!!!!! Do the Sox as a team even practice bunting during the season????? They probably do but it does not show in the games. As the Sox continue to struggle to get hits and to score runs, I believe a greater emphasis should be put on bunting by increased practice. I'd rather the Sox be able to put up crooked numbers, to be sure. However, with runs being so hard to come by, bunting more effectively could not hurt!
  15. J. Lackey (9-6, 3.84 ERA) VS. S. Feldman (4-5, 3.86 ERA) The Sox are in Houston riding a wave of new found confidence and fan enthusiasm after two consecutive walk-off wins against The Chicago White Sox. I say that the Sox should put their feet to the floor and destroy the Astros. Remind them that they are the team that belongs at the bottom of the pile and that the Sox cellar dwelling days are just temporary!!! GO SOX! P.S. I hope that VA has time to resume posting the lineups today. I will do so if needed. However, I respect the tradition and hope that we can carry it on today.
  16. This is the happiest that I have been to have a split in a series that I can remember. I was sure once the call at first was reversed that Koji would cough it up and he did. Three solid at bats at the end of this game. Wins are good!
  17. I don't know what has happened to VA so I will post the lineups: Chicago White Sox Player AB R H RBI TB BB K AVG OBP SLG A. Eaton, CF 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .265 .335 .366 G. 18. Hey Doc has the MRI been done yet? If not, do you know when it will be done? It's a shame this has happened but it's not the end of the world if he needs TJS. Maybe it's just minor irritation in the elbow? If not, off to Atlanta and see you in 2016.
  19. The series final game features two hot left handed pitchers. Lester (9-7, 2.73 ERA) VS. Quintana (5-7, 3.20 ERA) This game starts at 4:05 EST so leave work early, grab a 12 pack of your favorite brew and enjoy the game!!! Last night we were treated to a thrilling walk-off win reminiscent of so many games from 2013. I see no reason why this can not happen again today!!! GO SOX!
  20. That was fun! Of course the key element in this game is that Drew did not start! lol
  21. Not necessarily so. If the Cards have something the Sox need then I see no reason why a trade for Peavey can not be made. Maybe Craig is someone the Sox want?
  22. I think that if the financial aspect of a deal with the Yankees is there, many trades would and could be done. Obviously the Sox don't want to "arm" the Yankees to the extent that the Boston team will have even more problems competing within the division. Money is money. Even to the rich boys that own the Sox.
  23. Farrell is quoted in the Globe as saying that Vasquez will start tonight. I wonder who needs a catcher? It would seem to me that someone would pick up AJP. Too bad the Sox couldn't get anything for him.
  24. Butler is just a phone call away as well. I'm surprised at this move. They eat 9 mil instead of just holding onto him and getting some service out of his contract. It sure will be interesting to see whatever other moves they make now.
