  1. With this season a lost cause I'd like to see Holt, Bradley, and XB play well.
  2. This game has started poorly.
  3. Lol. Your mojo is as good as anyone's this year.
  4. Is anyone going to start a new game thread?
  5. This is not accurate. Holt had two offers before the ASG I believe.
  6. I never claimed that a pitcher could not remain dominant over a team ( or teams ) for a lengthy period of time. And of course I remember Juan Marishal. He had a leg kick rivaled by only a June Taylor Dancer or a Rockette.
  7. This should make Jacko happy.
  8. What do you have against Jose Bautista?
  9. Is anyone planing on starting a game thread for the game being played tonight? I want to respect our rules and mojo stuff. I'll start one if no one else does not.
  10. I think that we can safely cross Baltimore and Toronto off that list. I may point a finger or too at the FO for screwing certain things up but I give them enough credit not to deal Lester within the division. That would be just insanely stupid business.
  11. I'm not concerned with excuses just results. This team is tanking and it disgusts me to see it.
  12. Of course I understand all this Pal. I just don't think that it will happen.

I'd love to see this. But at this point I believe that it may be just wishful thinking.
  14. I agree. 3/21 was not so much that the Sox could not absorb 2-21/2 years of Salty after Vasquez was brought up. I realize that Swihart is on the way and may be here as soon as mid 2015 if he performs well when promoted to Pawtucket. There is no guarantee that either of these kids will be starters going forward. But even if they both start the season with the Sox next year, Salty could have been moved then. I don't get it. I think letting Salty walk was stupid.
  15. Unfortunately Holt has been in a significant slump for about 5-6 games. He has gone from .327 down to about .306 in that time. I hope that it is just a slump and not an indication that he will be another low .200s hitter. His minor league stats seem to indicate that he knows how to hit. And his approach up until recently has been great. We'll see!
  16. I, for one, am tired of the subject. I don't see the Sox garnering anything very useful if they trade him before the deadline and I don't see the Sox brass ponying up to make a near-market value offer $ / years to sign him either during the season or in November. He's just gone and we have to deal with it. I am absolutely against a swap for Kemp even if the Dodgers eat a substantial chunk. Who knows if Kemp will ever be totally healthy and what he may produce if he gets there.

I really don't see the Sox getting 80 wins. Nothing they are showing me now indicates that they will improve their winning percentage during this season. 70-75 is likely.
  18. This game was a total embarrassment. I can see the Sox having some difficulty in hitting the knuckle ball so an offensive outburst was probably not in the cards. But only one run? I'll be watching all of the games for the rest of the season. I had hoped that the Sox would at least come close to playing .500 ball. Obviously my expectations are too high. I'm going to be pissed if the Sox just play out the string. What happened to playing for pride? How about playing for personal achievement at least? I read that the legendary former Cy Young winner Dickey had won two of his 8 wins against the Sox coming into the game. It's bizarre that he now has three of his nine wins against the Sox. Oye!
  19. Lol. This is one of my pet "peeves". It's common for announcers to say a pitcher has done this and that against a team in his career. But really, how is that relevant? As you said, how many on the current roster were on the teams that the pitcher had faced in his career? It's just dumb filler for the masses and pink hats, I guess.
  20. Somehow its hard to envision Dunn as a HOF member. Yeah, he's played a lot of games and swatted a bunch of homers. But his career has been inconsequential. Those that argue that Poopie does not belong in the HOF because he was "just a DH and did not have to play the field" should look at Dunn's play at first base and rethink Hall induction criteria.
  21. The Sox have returned home to take on the flawed Blue Jays in a 3 game series. Greasy Locks Bucholtz vs. Limp Dickey It's time for the Sox to make a statement. That is: "We may suck but you suck too". Gentlemen ( and Lady ) get your brooms at the ready. The Sox will sweep those annoying birds back across the border where they will be forced to console themselves by consuming large quantities of poutine ( or whatever that gravy drenched French frie crap is called ) and lousy Canadian beer. GO SOX!!!! Note: This game is on ESPN, not NESN ( oh joy!!! ).
  22. I watch the Foodie shows and this is always mentioned when Chicago is the topic. They pile all sorts of stuff on hot dogs out there and say they have the best hot dogs. I don't buy it!
  23. I'm not sure about him being a good game caller. Mostly because I really don't understand exactly how the mechanism of game calling works. However, I agree with everything else that you said. His bat is especially missed.
  24. And neither of them will allow you to put ketchup on your hot dog.
