  1. I think that it's great that the Royals are so hot now. I hope that they can win it all. Does anyone believe that the Cards can come back and win 3 in a row? I don't see that happening.
  2. Because XB is a choker , JBJ sucks and will never hit, and together they are crap warmed over?
  3. I've watched every inning. The Royals seem to be the team of destiny this year. It's also fun to watch the Cards lose.
  4. Well then it's settled. Josh Beckett is a Saint.
  5. No thanks.
  6. The same can be said for XB. He should have been in Portland (AA) in 2014. His skills are too raw and unfinished to have been thrown into a starting role in Boston. I believe that this is what Fred sees. I have no idea if he will be the all-world star he was touted to be. I just hope that he demonstrates improvement in all phases of his game in 2015 if he is still around.
  7. Which was odd to watch because when he was brought to Boston he was touted as a very hard worker and a "professional" that younger pitchers could learn from. For a guy that had ace stuff and could dominate seemingly at will, his inconsistency was maddening. Whenever he was slated to start I would say to myself "The Sox will probably win this game." Then he would blow up or throw a stinker. Still, he did contribute to a championship. For that, I guess, we should all be appreciative.
  8. He had talent and was a puke. I don't miss him. The Sox dumped him for good reasons, I imagine.
  9. Yeah, he's kind of a puke.
  10. Of course they did trade Kelly who was their number one prospect and a pitcher ( at least in the Sox front office's eyes). I think that the Sox will move anyone excluding Papi and possibly Pedroia. Almost anything is possible.
  11. I'm happy to see the Royals succeed. It's been a long, long time coming. It seems to me that as recently as this past spring we were all saying things like "The Sox have this game. It's the Royals, after all." Followed by "The Sox are so bad that they can't even beat the Royals." Now the Royals are scorching hot and playing for the AL pennant. Who would have thought this possible at the beginning of the season? I have stated that I want the O's to win it all. Now I am sort of torn. I still want the O's to go to the Series because I think that they have enough of everything to win it all in a seven game series. But now the Royals have entered the picture and have become the feel good Cinderella team this post season. I am concerned about their lack of power. However they seem very adept at manufacturing runs with a speedy, slap hitting lineup. Maybe that is good enough? They have a good pen. They seem to have enough starting pitching for a 7 game series. I still want the O's to win because I am a loyal AL East guy and I like Duquette (sp). But if the Royals win the series against the O's I won't be upset or disappointed. It's cool to see them succeed. I hope that there is a way for both the Cards and Dodgers to be eliminated. Above all my blatantly subjective and unfounded statements, I think that this post season has been as good as any that did not include my team, the Red Sox. GO AL!!!!!!!!1!1
  12. I think the Sox prospects have value bunched together in the right group. But I agree that many believe the value is higher than it is. Unless the Sox brass catches someone napping. And I just don't see Hamels being worth what 4/88 or whatever he has remaining in his contract. The guy is a career 3.27 ERA in the NL East. That would bloat to about 4.00 or above in the AL. I's rather the Sox chase guys that have been AL East battle tested like Lester and Shields.
  13. I suppose that many people assume that the teams with the best record would be the best team. In my senior year of high school I learned that the best team does not always win. In a best of five series anything can happen. The playoffs are indeed a crapshoot.
  14. Then what do the Sox do with Howard? He does not hit anymore and he has a massive contract. After unloading the big contracts in the trade with the Dodgers, this would seem like a very dumb move especially if the sole motivation is to acquire a second tier pitcher who makes about 22 mil for the next few years. I say no. Pursue free agent pitchers first.
  15. Typical Derek!
  16. Unfortunately it is not possible for both teams to loose.
  17. So far there have been some good games in the playoffs this year. I like this because my team is not in the post season and I have no real reason to watch. I hope that Peavey does not get lit up in the 6th! I have a feeling that he may fade!!!
  18. Peavey looked good for 5 innings. I never saw him pitch this well when he was with the Sox. At least I can not remember seeing him pitch this well. If one team from California has to advance I guess that it may as well be the Giants!
  19. Yes. For some reason I forgot to type his last name twice. I keep reading how much he has meant to the resurgence of the Pirates. I also read that he will likely get a 3 year deal that is too rich for the Pirates. And no, I do not want the Sox to sign Martin!
  20. Yeah I don't get why Detroit has not built a good bullpen. Maybe they have tried and failed but it seems a shame that they have built an otherwise championship quality team yet have such a cough it up pen. I don't care, really. And I do prefer that the O's win the whole deal as I have said before. We all lament the Sox major failings this season. But the Sox have had a pretty good pen for several years even with the failure of two closers to even contribute last year. I bet the Tigers would not mind having Badenhop or Mujica about now!!!!! Hahahahahahaha!!!11!
  21. I wonder if the Pirates will continue to take "baby steps" forward or if they will fade back to also ran status. They stand a good chance to loose Russell in free agency. I'm not very knowledgeable about the rest of their roster but loosing Russell could be big.
  22. Yes to all of this post.
  23. I like the results so far. Except that the Pirates got bumped. Too bad. I liked watching McCutchin play.
  24. So Juan Nueives went 1 and 9 and got lit up in most starts?????????? That is a hasty and irresponsible assumption. Maybe Peavey just sucked pond water while with Boston? Or to make another stupid assumption, maybe the AL is a much better league than the NL. I liked Peavey and still do. But he was little more than horrid while a Red Sox including his "huge contribution" in 2013. Buchholtz has never been consistently good. PERIOD. Maybe he too can be resurrected with a change of scenery. But he will be in the Sox rotation to start 2015 and we will all have renewed hope (and naivety ).
  25. I was a "Lowrie Lover" a long time ago. When I saw that his name is among those in free agency this off season I immediately began to wonder if he could be had to cover 3rd and possibly cover SS if XB goes down. Just hold the position down until Cechini is ready to make the jump. But I quickly came to my senses after seeing him play and looking at his numbers. Pass please.
