  1. Who among the Celtic retired numbers do you see as undeserving?
  2. The Garden was a crumbling dump too.
  3. It's strange seeing nothing but white faces.
  4. Enlightening.
  5. Nice story about the painting. Fenway has been a crumbling dump for many years. I love walking up a ramp and seeing the bowl. It is very much my baseball home. Still a crumbling dump.
  6. Well he sucked at the plate long after the switch to third so whatever the cause it sure was significant. I hope he shows better plate discipline this year. I don't agree that this team can carry his bat if weak. Not a safe bet when so many questions remain with this line up. Remind me I said this if or when Castillo, Betts, or one of the MASH players come up short with the stick. You know. So I don't have to say I told you so.
  7. I just watched some video clips from Ft. Myers. JBJ was taking some cuts. I'm certainly no expert on batting mechanics. However, his swing looks terrible. It's all his shoulders. I wonder what he did in the off season to get better with the bat?
  8. I never bought into the idea that the move to third effected his hitting. He is just young and has a lot to learn about knowing which pitch will be thrown and reading balls out of a pitcher's hand. I wonder if his change in approach was something coaches instilled in him or if he just started swinging recklessly? I don't expect him to flip a switch and become all world at the plate this year. I just hope he has learned from the experiences of 2014 and continues to get better.
  9. That and the value of land.
  10. As differentiated from Henri.
  11. Which Richard?
  12. Good first post! Welcome to Talksox.
  13. Does anyone remember that I suggested the Sox go get Porcello? Do you remember me saying that I believed the Sox may build a staff with mid-wrung pitchers including Masterson? I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Relentlessly complaining about one thing or another ( when one has no influence ) just make no sense Fred. It compromises whatever else a person has to say and just seems to make those people more wanting of attention and in need of validation. It's also a supreme bore. We all know how you feel. Being reminded of how you were "right" does not change what was done and is of no consolation. No one likes to hear "I told you so" at all. Let alone over and over and over again.
  15. Stop with the maturity and commons sense. You'll break Talksox!
  16. Well if the Sox rotation fails to be solid I am not looking forward to the repeated complaints about how the Sox blew the Lester deal and did not sign a high priced starter "#1".
  17. Swilhart has played what, 18 games in AAA? There is no urgency to this matter.
  18. I'm not ignoring all the prolific offense The Great One brought to the game. However, when Orr entered the league there was no one that could play anywhere near his "level". It was as if he were playing a different game. I guess you had to have seen him play to understand this.
  19. I've been watching sports for nearly six decades. I've seen all these athletes perform. Not one of them could dominate and even CONTROL a game the way Bobby Orr did. It's not even close.
  20. I was not responding to you or to anyone specifically. I was not making myself clear. I promise to never go all Fred on you.
  21. I'll try again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd rather have both Swilhart AND Vasquez playing for the Sox than to trade one in favor of keeping just one of them.
  22. I believe that R.I is predominantly for the Sox. But around here there are many Yankee hats and flags.
  23. I guess that I'd rather that Swilhart's offense play for the Sox at another position than to trade him as a catcher. Even if his value to other teams is greatest at catcher.
  24. This is why I have suggested that he be tried at another position with the Sox. Maybe 1st base? Or the outfield? He is said to have the athleticism to play other positions. With Nap a possible goner soon it may make sense. Although I doubt that Swihart will be totally ready when Nap exits. Still, moving him to another position could be a win-win.
  25. Lol. I forgot!!!!!!
