  1. Word is that he will catch on somewhere as a reliever. I'm done with the guy. I'd rather send a plane to Japan to pick up Dice - K.
  2. I wonder if Quintero is as good as Butler? I hope so. Please note that I did not claim that Butler was very good.
  3. Fred can tell you exactly what happened!
  4. Still, Dojji has some good ideas and observations. Right or wrong makes no difference to me because he thinks and makes us look at things from an other perspective which I believe is a good thing.
  5. I agree with that Sisterwoman. They should get a decent arm.
  6. I've been a fan of Victorino many years. His time is probably over.
  7. That's because I'm f***ing brilliant.
  8. Until he pulls up lame again.
  9. Can't see it happening. The kid is another dope that had plenty of chances with the Sox and never buckled down. I wonder why the Cubs released him? Probably more of the same lazy ass adolescent s***.
  10. Edes wrote today that trade talk involving Craig has increased to the point that many feel he will be gone before the Sox break camp. Good.
  11. It's a shame, really. I love watching Vasquez play. I sort of worried about how his arm was going to hold up. He really pegs the ball. It sucks that his development will most likely be stunted. But hey, that's part of the game.
  12. I have no doubt that Pedroia will exceed his last two years of production at the plate IF HEALTHY. If his hand allow him to resume his Vlad Guererro swating why not? BUT, if he does go down again with injury this team still has quality depth at second. I am more concerned about Bogaerts. If he does not hit what then? If he gets hurt, what then? I love me some Holt but he is not a full time SS. Will Hanley be playing SS again? The Sox say no but things can change. Especially with so much redundancy in the outfield.
  13. Why is no one worried about Vasquez????????? My guess is that he is out until early or mid May AT BEST. His season could be over pending a second opinion. I think it is strange that the Sox will not mention the exact nature of the "problem" found in the first MRI. I don't want Swihart to start the season in Boston. Send him down to Pawtucket until he has at least half a season of AB there. The Sox can survive with Hannigan as the #1 catcher and Quintana (SP) as his back-up for now.
  14. Ted I know NOTHING about running an MLB team. I do know how to run a business. As two old farts on this board we can claim that we have seen this before. It's not the end of the world and may not be a total disaster having 3 of 5 starters being little more than schlock ( and I admit that I have always liked Masterson and even see some promise in Kelly ). I don't claim to know it all. I see what the Sox are doing and it is familiar to me. I don't drink the koolaide and I am not a doom and gloomer. I calls them as I sees them. This team is no better than second place ( Baltimore takes the Division ) and may slide to a battle with the Yankees for 3rd.
  15. Lots of ifs for the trade to become what is deemed equal to what Lackey would have provided this year. No, I don't say that having lackey would put this team over the top and be a post season favorite. And I believe unless Lackey sucked again that he could have been signed to a reasonable extension. Unless he was being a major twat about it. a700 is right. It may be hard for Craig to get enough AB to be a major contributor on this team this year. I love depth because it helps in the grind of a long season and increase the chances of playing meaningful ball in October. I just see Craig as excess baggage now. The Sox have depth to cover his two positions.
  16. It's certainly nice to hear that you love me!!! Nah. I have not gone all Fred. I have just tempered my enthusiasm with reality. I want the Sox to do well, of course. I am a pragmatist. Until I see this team doing well with all the questionable pieces it has I won't allow myself to be overcome with positive emotions. This team has a bunch of questions heading into the season. I am aware of how the division appears underwhelming. I do not see the Sox as being that much better than any team in the league at this point. I have my opinions. I remain optimistic.
  17. If healthy he could be the Sox #2!!!!!!!!!! Now that is depth!
  18. In anticipation of someone pointing out that Laptop had 6 Ks today I will say this. That is about 10K/9 in rough math. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! But consider this. 12 hits in 5 innings is about 22 or so hits in 9 innings. and 4 runs in 5 innings is over a 7.0 ERA. Oh yes. He is just fine.
  19. I'll answer your question first. I don't think that it is likely that he will help the Sox take first. I doubt that this team will win the division without two more quality starting pitchers. Again, I did not see him pitch today. But 4 runs off of 12 hits in 5 innings plus one batter is not what I see as quality pitching. 96 pitches???????? Yes he does suck donkey dicks. I say this based on watching flail for most of seven years. Not because he is getting pasted this ST. He is a dope and has no capacity to control an AB. He should have been traded to the Cards. Oh wait. The Cards were smart and grabbed a functional and productive pitcher in exchange for crap like Buch. My bad.
  20. So Craig's value is defined by his desirable contract if he performs to 75% of what he used to be? If not, he will have to absolutely rake in limited AB to build any value at all. I don't see it happening. And he is mediocre defensively. Sell low, I say. Then don't make stupid trades anymore.
  21. It's been little more than a bust now Kimmi. I suppose we can all continue to wait for either or both of Kelly and Craig to become more than what they are now. But how long is long enough? To date, the deal with the Cards is no more than a stinker.
  22. I agree that Porcello is likely the best starter now. And I think that Miley may be okay. Other than that, this rotation is just crap.
  23. Nava is a .300 hitter from one side of the plate, at least. That combined with his defensive versatility and a cheap contract makes him useful on this team. We know what we have in him. Unlike other players in question.
