    Another relevant number is the $20. mil or so difference in pay. I have nothing against Middlebrooks and I hope he can have a career in MLB. His time was over in Boston. So far Sandoval has not come anywhere close to earning his money. And we have 4 more years to go.

    As I remember it, no one was even talking about Hanley coming to Boston until he approached the Sox with the idea of left field. And since there were no other suitors that we know of I have to question why it was needed to spend $20.+ mil for 4 years on getting him. Massive overpay given his non-existent market. Yeah, he was probably the best bat available in FA but that is negated by the fact that no one wanted him. If they did not sign Panda I suppose Hanley at 3rd could have been livable for a year or so. Then move him to DH. This was all just a very bad idea. And unnecessary.

    I feel the same. This is sickening to watch yet I do watch. I am very curious to see what will be done to change this situation. I am talking about this year. But really, as you said, this team has been off course for a long time. 2013 was a nice surprise. It just does not make up for the entirety of the futility. What the hell do they plan to do about it? Salary dump to Los Angeles again? We know that will not happen. This is a total mess. Frankly, I am shocked that the FO has allowed this all to happen. Henry has no idea what he is doing. But he is supposed to hire people that do know and can run the operation for him. How can he still have faith in these f*** ups?

    Boy are runners being gunned down at second tonight!!!! That was a great play by Holt and a good play by Pedroia. Holt sort of made up for his bad throw to home earlier.
