I'm not splitting hairs when I look at the numbers. Do you want another 3 or 4 on this staff? Is he good enough to sacrifice prospects for? -
JBJ hit two dingers and the scrub "Mr. Projectability" Hernandez had 4 hits including a dinger tonight as the Pawsox won 13-4.

From the mound looking in, he is on the left of the plate in a light colored ( white ) shirt with I believe blue in it. He was leaning up against a partition. Pretty sure it was him standing there for two innings. I stopped watching after that until now.

Why take the scraps when you can have the filet? Do the Sox need another mid-rotation arm? Time for some bold moves. Grab a great pitcher and another guy with near great stuff.

Just looked at Leake's numbers. His numbers are pedestrian. He will be a FA at season's end. He is another Wade Miley type. This team does not need another 4.0+ ERA meatball throwing turd. Pass on this guy.

I like the sound of this except that Deven Marrerro is not a MLB hitter yet. The Reds would be trading one problem for another, it would seem. I'm all for salvaging anything at all out of the Cards deal so I'd trade Kelly in a minute for the right guy. Is Leake that guy? I think that the Sox need to aim higher. Twice.

I agree. I just assumed that people here would expect Ben to only go after someone who could and would be extended. Rentals won't get this team far this season. I say go for broke or just make some tweaks and unload some excess baggage in the process. Craig comes to mind. I would not be surprised to see Kelly gone or even Fat Boy or Hanley. Don't know who would want any of them especially with the big price contracts. Of course the Sox could eat some of that. Like 1/3 or half!

Who knows what those guys think? But I believe that with 2 top of the rotation starters, this team could go all the way. Collectively this team has performed poorly. But there is no mistaking that they still have a shitload of talent. I don't see any real powerhouse team in the AL that the Sox could not compete with if they had the pitching. That to me is the source of my frustration with the Sox.

I'm okay with that. Hammy injuries can linger for a long time. Although he was first on the field yesterday and worked out the entire 90 minutes. I say don't push it.

I'll answer that. Simply put, he would be our best starter for now. But he is getting up there in age and I can't see the Sox making a long term ( 3+ years ) deal for him. I'd like to see Kazmir on our team, but not for a haul of prospects. That would be even more stupidity by Ben.

I voted no. One top line starter won't turn this season around in two months. Now if Ben does have an opportunity to snag a top guy that he would have targeted in the off season then fine. I just don't see the necessity of a paying top prospect prices to make it look like he is trying to salvage this mess of a season. I think the abundance of good arms entering FA should be his focus. I say that we need two as things stand now. That could change if Johnson performs well. But again, if someone is about to be moved that Ben has a boner for, he should consider some kind of move. Other than Swilhart I say any player currently in the Minors is expendable.

I think that we all are interested in the 2nd half. Even if it remains unlikely that the Sox will rebound. It's our team, good or bad.
