  1. ...I certainly hope he regains his health and can perform like he used to. It would be nice if the sox could get the same Baldeli that the Rays had when they 1st drafted him. But injuries do take a toll on the body, and it's unlikely that he'll ever return to that type of player again. He is still pretty young, 26 or 27, but his health prevents him to play the way he used to. The good thing is that the sox only brought him here to play part time, usually against left handed pitching.
  2. Yeah, maybe we could get Mark bellhorn and try to see if Todd Wlaker are available again. Even though I'm joking, Todd Walker did do his thing with the bat when he was with us. One of my favorite red sox besides nomar while he was here.
  3. LMAO! Using Gabbard once again to re-aquire Gange.
  4. I said all along that the hats with the hanging socks are something that should be left for the fans to wear. But it doesn't look good on the players.
  5. I actually emailed the red sox about that. They actually sent me a response thanking me for my input. I told them they are taking the "red" out of red sox with all the blue. I can deal with the blue lettering, but when I saw the blue sox, that was it for me. In mlb the show for ps3, they still wear the red socks with the new blue lettered road jerseys and it looks better that way. I told them that maybe the hanging socks should be on both sides of the sleeve to add more red to the uniform. At least when I play mlb the show, they give me the option to pick what uniform I want to wear. And believe me I play with the old road jerseys with the red letters mostly all the time.
  6. I think I would do better in the NL LOL!
  7. If only he could get that 4-5 MPH back that he had when he first came to the States. I watched the exhibition game he pitched against the Mets at Citi field, and he wasn't even hitting 88 on his fast balls. Everything was 86mph. That's not good.
  8. Boston, and still did better in a Sox uniform in 08 than Bay did. Manny, in his Dodger days - .489 OBP, .743 SLG%, 1.23 OPS. Annhilates Bay's numbers. In his dodger days. That's just it. When Manny got to La, he was Mr. teamate of the year. All smiles, atitude change, hustling out ground balls! He's going to be on his best behavior because he knows he's pretty much playing for a contract for the rest of his life.
  9. Other teams improving their offense doesn't bother me. It's the pitching that I'm always concerned about. The sports gurus been talking so much about how good and deep the sox rotation is this year. That's just on paper. Penny hasn't proved anythng yet. Smoltz has yet to even throw a pitch. Both of these guys coming off arm injuries. Concerns me a bit. sometimes I wish the sox would've spent some money and took a chance on AJ Burnett. He seems to be the best thing the Yankees got going for them right now. Him and Nick Swisher.
  10. . Don't get me wrong, love me some Papi, but no one is going to stick around forever, and if the team can get better so be it. That's the same thing I said about the whole Manny situation. All the Ny fans were asking me what did I think about the trade, and how much did I miss manny? It was that and everyone telling me the red sox miss Manny. You can't miss a guy when he doesn't want to be there. It would have been a different story if the red sox would have let him walk at the end of last season and got nothing in return. But they traded for a younger more deffensive, and a good hitter in Jason By. I keprt telling all the yankee fans and baseball fans in general, nithing lasts forever. Eventually Manny's time was going to come to an end. Wether it was now, or a few years from now. Him and Papi batting 3 & 4 in the lineup wasn't going to last forever. Papi is off to a slow start. He is coming off an injury from last year, so hopefully he'll turn things around. It's not like he's the only player that gets off to a slow start every year. But eventually, Papi's time is going to be up in Boston one day. I would prefer Manny at Dh over papi in the long run, that's if manny really wanted to be here.
  11. He is one hell of a hitter. we got 2 world series rings because of him being here. But when he's not motivated to play like he was last year, and causing all these headaches in the club house, it wasn't worth kepping him around. Ho wmany more years does he pklan on playing anyway? he'll be 40 in a few, and the sox were going to be parting ways with him eventually.
  12. Quite frankly i dont think they score as much as last year and the problem lies with elsbury. In 2007 he was hitting screaming line drives all over the place, last year after April he was awful. The league has found his weakspots and has exploited them. If hes going to hit 250 with weak obp then we need to think about another bat and then lose an edge on defense, how long are we prepared to have him leadoff if he isnt getting on base? I have my doubts about this guy after seeing him fail last summer. He did hit 280 last year which wasn't bad. He did have a few months were he was in a horrible slump. It seems like this happens to all rookies when they get called up during the post season. It was the same with Ricky Ledee when he was unstoppable with the Yankees in his 1st playoff and world series appearances. I think he was named the MVP whatever year it was the yankees won the world series. But when he played his full rookie season the next following year, he sucked. Not to say that Ellsbury sucks, but he has struggled a bit since becoming a full time player. Maybe the sox should think about moving Pedroia into the leadoff spot and dropping Ellsbury back in the 9 hole like they did the year they won their 2nd world series. It's funny, because he also gets off to a very slow start on my mlb the show '09 baseball game for ps3. The computer actually suggested that I drop him to the bottom of the order, and I did. Now he's hitting better. When I used him on mlb the show '07 for ps2 he had a icey snowflake next to his name in the line up, which meant he was cold. The guy wasn't hitting for s***.
