I questionned Fred based on that issue alone. If you want to change the issue, don't quote me, make an argument and then say who cares about the original point. That's just asinine.

Nixon was way better in MVP 2004 than Drew. As both players no longer play for the team IRL, that's all that matters to me. I just can't get hot and bothered over JD talk anymore. Might as well have a post about how we feel about Rich Garces, Ed Jurak, or Matt Young.

Fred, if 2 key starters went down on any team it would be trouble. The problem isn't bringing in depth SP. The problem is that they don't have young arms in AA or AAA that are ready to contribute. If the farm system was better, these signings would mean nothing. If they can get 1 adequate SP out of the bunch, it's a win.

What Jacko said was pretty spot on in his summation of local fans. It is different in MA than in CA. While a Yankee fan talking s*** to you in a Target in Manhattan Beach is annoying, it just doesn't compare to the year round baseball culture in MA. If you take Fred out of the equation, the face of his argument rings true.

He was fine. His pricetag was a little high, but the Sox should be able to afford to overpay players. He was garbage in 2011, but decent the other years if you ignore the salary.

Conditioning in September has to due with training programs run during the season, not ST. You can be effectively conditioned in ST, then become a fat POS by not eating well and working out during the year.

Yeah, I hope he's not Kevin Maas, but it's way too early to tell. He should spend the whole year catching at AAA and start for Boston in 2013.

September was entirely on the players. I can see how ST could have affected the slow start, but not the finish.

Because he's RH. Personally, I'd expect whoever is catching to hit 8 or 9 and not be on deck when Ortiz is up. My point is that Salty won't likely bat right after Ortiz.

With Shoppach hitting lefties, I don't see how Salty's production (or lack thereof) would affect pitches thrown to Ortiz, since he won't directly follow him in the lineup.
