  1. Aren't boobs usually good at getting $$$ from old men?
  2. f*** that guy.
  3. He doesn't manage the check book though.
  4. He's just saying that because he wants to avoid "bridge year" scandal part deux.
  5. This is closer to what my overall feeling is. Should the Sox spend their way out of the 2011 mess? Probably not, but paring payroll after a shitstain of a season comes across as cheap. If people tuned out in 2010 when the injury bug hit, just wait until a midyear swoon in 2012 ( if one happens). The sellout streak will look more ridiculous with 4,000 no shows.
  6. If Ben is paring payroll, why is he automatically at fault? Obviously, this comes from an ownership directive. If he's subject to constraints from above, how is he automatically a "boob." Clearly, ownership has a hardon for Ortiz (remember the dumb "greatest clutch player" plaque they gave him) and didn't want to alienate the "fans" by losing the most recogizable player at the expense of overloading the payroll on a DH. IMO, fault here should hit ownership saquarely in the nuts first and foremost. All this talk about Ben's character is foolish at best. Is he the best GM in the game? No. Is he the worst? Probably not. It's just way too soon to really have a good read on his abilities. You don't build a team overnight.
  7. For a cabal of posters who take every beat writer's stories as gospel, at least know their names. The extra "s" is actually something that annoys Sean whenever he hears it. If it was the only time you spelled it wrong, I wouldn't have said anything.
  8. 1. There is no "s" in McAdam 2. Fred, stop making crap up. That 1st paragraph is nonsense.
  9. Floyd the Barber>Jax>Oswalter
  10. I hope so. It remains to be seen.
  11. Will Kalish be back before AS break? Also, I don't like Ross as noted yesterday.
  12. I do as I'm not sold on Oswalt.
  13. Still up for debate due to SS/RF. I think Texas is still better.
  14. When I went to London in 99, the options were better there than 2011 in the US. Granted, it's getting a lot better. My only point was that it would be harder for Prince Fielder to find a healthy option than an omnivore player. If he's eating at McDonalds on road trips, he's going to be worse on than non-vegetarians.
  15. Veggie burger with fries/pasta/grilled veggies is not a menu. There are options, but they are boring, especially when you're travelling. I've lived in SF, LA, Boston and think I have a good idea what I'm talking about.
  16. Well, being a vegetarian for almost half my life, I know how limited the options are even at the best restaurants and best catering services. More often than not, the veggie options are pasta or a greasy "grilled" veggie plate.
  17. Fred, Reddick had a higher OPS last year than Ross. Just saying...
  18. I don't care about the signing either way. Just know people's disdain for McDonald and noticed that Darnell had a better 2011 than Ross. Thought it was interesting, that's all. Wasn't complaining.
  19. Age ain't nuthin but a number when it's a 1 year deal. Most recent history showed that Ross didn't have great splits. I wouldn't be shocked if he had a repeat performance of 2011. We'll have to see though. (Just thought it was interesting to look at their 2011 ABs and notice the grass isn't always greener.)
  20. McDonald had better splits against LHP last year and it's not even close. I don't see it with Ross.
  21. The Ortiz contract is a red herring. The problem is Lackey and CC's contracts. Unlike other sports, putting Lackey on IR and saving a cap hit isn't possible in MLB.
  22. Wrong. BV has stated that the Sox messed up by not letting him go longer in starts. If he comes back, BV won't be scared to let him throw a bunch of pitches.
