  1. Shhhhh, it's easier just complaining about the FO for things they can't possibly be at fault for.
  2. Bogaerts/Brentz/JBJ should all be given the opportunity to win MLB jobs in ST. If any of them appear ready, they should play.
  3. I'm all for guys like Brandon Belt... He's a young guy that fits a need not found in the organization.
  4. Also, his career OPS is 100+ points lower away from Coors. It'd be dumb to trade the farm, to bring back a contract that runs for 8 more years for a guy who has spent his career in Colorado.
  5. For the Red Sox urposes, it's not $16M per. It's $19.5 from 2014-2020. 2011 and 12 are irrelevant to the Sox and this discussion. It's too much money for a SS when any $ should go towards pitching, but not on 8 year contracts.
  6. His extension was for 7 years at $134M (not the $15M per you're making it out to be). Maybe you didn't really know the contract?
  7. Spending money is fine, but not on ridonkulous contracts like Tulo's...
  8. Yes, let's trade for another payroll busting long term contract!
  9. Yes, because attendence is the sole factor regarding fan intensity and pressure... Not that they're in laid back Orange County or anything...
  10. The Angels are in a big market, but they are way down the popularity chart in LA with very little fan pressure.
  11. And to be fair, the Sox aren't going into next year without additional contracts.
  12. If they give a b-level prospect, it's too much.
  13. Red Sox - 84 wins Guardians - 80 wins
  14. I'd just put Ross at 1b.
  15. Trumbo for Ells/Barnes/Brentz is a horrible trade. If you're trying to get a #1 starter, sure. 1b is one of the easiest positions to fill. Don't want to trade for pitchers? GioGonzalez looked pretty good this year. Waiting on FA's is a horrible business model because you may have to wait a few years until a great pitcher shows up.
  16. The most negative former poster thought the Sox would win 83-85 games. We were all so very, very wrong.
  17. He's just not very good anymore. An injury prone guy who hits under .240 with diminishing power? That doesn't sound fun to me. There are way better options out there. It also doesn't help that he's a prima donna who loves drama. When you're such a problem that even Manny had to tell him to chill out, you're probably not the best guy to be around.
  18. Heard he'll wind up in the pen.
  19. I hope Nava gets traded so that we can stop talking about that guy. He's the definition of "replacement player" and not worth overanalyzing.
  20. At this point, I'd trade Doubront, have Lackey 5th, and use Morales as a spot starter. (If those two are signed)
  21. I guess we're going to bump every old thread now?
  22. The mea culpa would belong to LL then as he wasn't Ben's pick.
  23. Peavy Haren Jackson De La Rosa In that order... The others will either cost too much, be unavailable, or would just be a bad signing.
  24. Now when is the mea culpa (sp?) from all the posters who thought BV was the right choice?
