This team has 3 more wins than any other team in baseball. Worrying about a 20 year old 3b who has shown flashes of being the future of your team is wasted energy IMO.

Ideally, a closer needs to have 2 good pitches (unless you are Mariano Rivera). Kelly has a straight 100 mph FB and not much else. Kimbrel works so well because he can throw nasty offspeed stuff. Kelly doesn't have that.

Not according to Sean: To me, this has always been about money. Largely because I have been here much longer than Don, I am paid more money on a per game basis than Don. I think when the Red Sox offered me the Friday night package two years ago they were surprised that I accepted it, because they were well aware of the much more lucrative offer I had on the table from the Mets. With hindsight, perhaps they wanted me to leave then... Some have speculated that my "candor" might have been a factor in this decision. I don't think that it was. This was not mentioned by anyone I spoke with as a reason for my termination, nor am I aware of anything that I said in the past few years that "ruffled any feathers."

Rookie has 10 HR's before mid-June sounds good to me. He has room to grow at 3b, but he is making great plays and by all accounts is working his ass off to be the best defensive 3b he can. Even with his throwing issues, he's still a better 3b than Holt. Fangraphs has him at 15th out of 23 qualified players.
