Because that's what front office sources have leaked (see: Alex Speier). That the trade could have been made without Allen, but he was added on at the last minute.
I told myself that I wouldn't post about Pedey today, but I just saw this:
@SmittyOnMLB
Red Sox describe Dustin Pedroia's status for spring training as "uncertain"
They have 7 guys who have a realistic chance to be top 100 guys next year:
Casas
Mata
Groome
Jimenez
Dalbec
Duran
Ward
If they all made it, would that be Bloom turning things around?
I need to see Bloom get through a whole season before I can really judge his performance.
I think they know who they want as manager. I think they know what they want to do with their roster. Maybe they're just not in a hurry?
It seems like we've only been kicking around a few ideas for what the Sox should do. Let's see what everyone here thinks is the way to go.
Just as an FYI, I've allowed for multiple choices for this poll.
Baseball America just released their annual top 100 rankings.
Casas came in at 70.
Dalbec came in at 75.
That's it. If Mata and Ward have strong seasons, they should be on next year. A strong season from Casas could vault him into the top 25.
Odor was really good at one point. He's so weird to me because he used to mash FB's but now is AAAA level with the same pitch. Myers is a little better than Odor, but I'm not sure this team needs another COF/1B RHB.
