  2. https://bosoxinjection.com/2020/02/19/boston-red-sox-outfielder-rusney-castillo-preparing-contract-year/ “I understand that I have to go out and have the best year I can because it is a contract year for me,” Castillo told WEEI’s Rob Bradford through a translator. “Whatever happens afterwards, happens but I’m just preparing myself to hopefully get a chance to be up in the major leagues. While players around him are fighting for roster spots, Castillo knows there won’t be one waiting for him no matter how well he performs. He just keeps working, hoping his day will come again someday. “At first, it was a bit frustrating but it doesn’t change the way I go about my business,” said Castillo. “I try and work hard and try and take advantage of the opportunity I have in Triple-A and if they give me that opportunity to get back in the majors, I’m just always ready for that moment.”
  3. There's been no indication from him that he's unhappy with the situation. My guess is that if you showed him up front what was going to happen than he'd still do the deal 99/100 times.
  4. It's looking more and more like Bloom is going to go with a AA/AAA guy and some combination of openers. It's definitely an interesting plan. And I'm not sure there are arms left that would really be a much better option than that. I wonder if Bloom was the one really pushing for the opener last year. I was listening to the TB broadcast and the broadcaster was stating that the Rays are going to be using the opener much less this year and seem to have a 5 man rotation. The opener worked well for them last year. We'll see how it goes in BOS.
  5. If he was good enough, he'd be in MLB right now. He's basically a AAAA guy with little upside.
  6. I don't get it. People feel sorry for overpaid Castillo because he's stuck in AAA even though his performance isn't good enough for him to be an MLB regular. However, the second best baseball player in the world is too uppity for wanting to be paid like it. We're at the point now where it seems that the people who are the most vocal and upset about the Betts situation are those who didn't want Betts around at his market value anyway. So the anger boils down to "Betts should have been grateful for the first below market offer Henry gave him." He's gone. He's not coming back. Can we talk about stuff that will actually affect the Red Sox going forward?
  7. Results delayed from this week until “maybe next week.”
  8. Well, he does seem to be too good for us now.
  9. Which one of us is an MLB MVP?
  10. Varitek
  11. Thought they stopped doing that?
  12. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/02/boston-red-sox-slugger-bobby-dalbec-traded-tanner-houck-200-for-window-seat-on-flight-to-japan-houck-then-bought-samurai-sword.html Dalbec gave $200 to Houck to switch seats on a flight going to Japan. Houck used that money to buy samurai swords.
  13. Frankly, if he was out until ASB, I still wouldn’t call him a bust.
  14. There was tons of enthusiasm for signing Crawford.
  15. No way were the Sox trading Mookie for 23 year old Mookie and AA Derek Jeter. That’s not a reasonable expectation IMO.
  16. Pawlecki showed off a good arm at C. Tagging on a liner to LF really showed Duran’s speed. That’s why I wondered if his upside this year is 2007 Ellsbury.
  17. Rewatching the Rays game. Sox k’d 9 times the first 4 innings. Woof.
  18. Also, Verdugo is under control for a long while. Hard to call him a bust at this point. He wasn’t brought here to be Mookie 2.0.
  19. I bet the Sox went into this trade realizing there was a chance for this to happen since he missed substantial time last year.
  20. While we’re here talking about Most, go read “High Above Courtside.”
  21. Pass on the catching.
  22. There have been MANY WS trophies in my adulthood. There is ONLY ONE PIZZA TOSS.
  23. Pretty sure the Pats lost after the 2007 season, soooo...
  24. Don't remember it.
