  1. NFL players union is the weakest in professional sports.
  2. I'm sure Jacko will be giving us minute by minute updates as this progresses.
  3. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2020/02/26/red-sox-prospect-quarantined-for-coronavirus/ Boston Red Sox prospect Chih-Jung Liu, who was in Taiwan until last week, has been placed in quarantine in his Fort Myers, Florida hotel room as a precaution against the coronavirus. Liu, 20, says he feels fine and has shown no symptoms. If that continues through the weekend, he’ll be released. Liu is actually the second Red Sox player from Taiwan that the team has quarantined this spring, as infielder Tzu-Wei Lin was also quarantined earlier this month. A Red Sox spokesman told the Boston Globe that the team was doing this out of “an overabundance of caution.” Liu Was named MVP of the 2019 Asian Baseball Championship, after which he signed with Boston last fall. He’ll be assigned to a minor league team after extended spring training.
  4. His swing always cracks me up
  5. You take the good you take the bad you take them both and there you have.
  6. https://twitter.com/RedSox/status/1232739188472188928 He made up for it with what the announcer called an "oppo taco."
  7. Sox bullpen were 1st in K/9 and appearances too. The averaged 3.9 relievers each game.
  8. Angels, Rays and Jays all threw over 700. Sox were 6th in innings, 8th in FIP, 5th in WAR. Sox will most likely go over 750 this year if they go with opener.
  9. @PeteAbe Michael Chavis was 0 for 5 with 4 strikeouts in his first two games. Walk and a single today. 2-1 Sox in the 3rd here in Bradenton.
  10. I agree. The penalties are ridiculous. The only way the union should keep the CBT in the contract is if they can also establish a salary floor with similar penalties for going under.
  11. Every projection has him with an ERA and FIP well above 5. Pass. I'd take my chance with in house options because I don't believe the ceiling his high enough to bring him in. There's going to be a few guys at the end of ST who are going to be put through waivers. I bet a few of them would be much better than Vargas.
  12. They keep pushing this s*** back. I can't believe it would take that long to inform someone. They only penalized a handful of people on the Astros. If they aren't still investigating, it makes no sense that they are still dragging this out unless they just want to sweep it under the rug. The closer it gets to Opening Day, the worse this story will be for the league.
  13. It applies to everyone. Even if your payroll is 40M, you still are held to CBT rules. Because of the CBT, there is only a finite amount of payroll that can be paid prior to hitting CBT. The union shouldn't have gone for that.
  14. 1. "No way would we pay the tax." 2. "The tax issue MAY have prevented him." Pick one.
  15. I don't believe that deal is legit. It's been over a week with no updates and the only reporter talking about it is a guy in SD.
  16. No reason to be waiting on the guys remaining. Seems like he’s not interested IMO.
  17. No cheat meals today.
  18. I was surprised when the details were revealed the last go around. MLBPA used to be a pretty strong union. Clark rolled over like a dog.
  19. He screwed up with the last CBA, so he only has himself to blame. They signed a de facto cap for each team every 3 years. Dumb.
  20. Well we haven't heard a peep about him looking into anyone. The longer this goes, the less likely that the Sox will bring anyone in. As for Cashner, reports are now saying that his agent is billing him as a reliever going forward.
  21. Santana was good at one point. None of the other guys have much upside. You can bring them in, but you may be better off just giving Houck a shot every 5th day.
  22. Done with what? Nobody is left to sign.
  23. They get paid TO PLAY A KIDS GAME!!!!!!! That attitude should have died in the 1980's with the wave.
