  1. @SmittyOnMLB Red Sox's Jackie Bradley Jr. batting .301 with a .338 on-base percentage, .480 slugging percentage, .817 OPS in his past 23 games (78 PA) dating back to May 3.
  2. The statement was Diekman f***ing sucks, Schreiber is just a guy and Strahm can't really be relied on. The bargain bin shopping that Bloom has done with the bullpen since he came here just hasn't really worked all that well. The list of randos that have walked out of the pen the past 3 years has been ridiculous.
  3. Not when they had to face the mighty O's.
  4. If they anticipated an entire missed season an possible TJS, they should have also anticipated that TJS for older pitchers is not quite the slam dunk it is for younger pitchers.
  5. I think they have bigger plans for German later in the season. I think they could call up someone else right now and replace some of the dreck.
  6. Seiya Suzuki was removed from Thursday's game against the Reds due to an apparent injury. Suzuki looked to jam his left hand on an awkward play at second base in the top of the third inning, though he initially stayed in the game after a chat with a trainer and then got lifted with the Cubs trailing 10-3 leading into the bottom of the fourth.
  7. They buried Valdez on the bench for long stretches last season too. I think Cora just doesn't really trust him. He gave up 6 bb's over his first 3 appearances in WOO. He's pitched ok, but his constant high bb% and low LOB% for BOS isn't getting it done. I really think they need to just try some younger guys like Zach Kelly. They can't be any worse than Sawamura or Robles. Not sure there is much to lose.
  8. For 2022, yes.
  9. The working out part is irrelevant. They have not committed to any of the other 3. Plus, I'm not sure most fans would have considered Sale in the top 4 at the time he re-signed the way you did. He was coming off an injury and was working out of the pen in the playoffs. He wasn't exactly leading up the rotation at that point.
  10. I didn't do anything. I did have a mild panic attack at 8:45 last night thinking that I didn't make the gamethread.
  11. Only Gabe Kapler. Tired and sometimes injured.
  12. Also, factoring in 14 guys sitting in AAA as "part of the roster" is kinda weird since I don't think fans think about it that way.
  13. Yes, that's how it works with superstars.
  14. Springs numbers this year are wild. I don't want to talk about Martin Perez. I don't know how he's doing it.
  15. Left ribcage sprain for ERod. On the 15 day IL. No current timetable for return... He was fairly healthy with the Sox and maybe they were smart not to go long with him.
  16. Fatse must have felt the pressure we were putting on him. Glad he started getting to work!
  17. Update: Didn't sweep the Rangers, but went 2 for 3 and took 2 of 3 from the Astros. Jacko would have taken that. Jacko then surmised 10 or 12 of the next 17 games. So far, they have won 5 of 6 and still have 5 GAMES LEFT TO PLAY AGAINST THE O'S AND 2 AGAINST THE REDS. As longs as they don't completely bite it here, I think they can continue to climb back into things.
  18. Current Sox Bullpen Power Rankings: Are they really that good Division: 1. John F'n Schreiber 2. Matt Strahm Tanner Houck Division: 3. Tanner Houck Take what you can get Division: 4. Austin Davis 5. Jake Diekman 6. Matt Barnes DFA Division: 7. Hirokazu Sawamura 8. Hansel Robles
  19. Cano has a 397 OPS with San Diego so far. That's an ice cold -10 wRC+.
  20. I think scouts aren't sold on Wickowski being more than a 4/5 at best in his career, but still not having a named closer is kinda wild. I don't want to see Robles in the 9th again. A part of 2022 dies every time that happens.
  21. @alexspeier Within this story on the past, present, and future of Devers: He reiterated his hopes of revisiting extension talks with the Red Sox in the offseason. “I love this place. I want to be here.” When John Henry f***s this up...............
  22. Ah, but doesn't the offense also get tired from running around so much?
  23. Why didn't Story just hit a few of his HR's earlier in the season in a tie ballgame?
  24. @brendan_camp Top #RedSox prospect Brayan Bello becomes first pitcher in International League this season to strike out 10 batters in multiple games He's only had 2 starts in AAA.
  25. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/05/red-sox-notes-winckowski-sale-paxton.html Cora is suggesting a spot start for Winckowski.
