  1. And before you go "I didn't say SLG!!!" you can look that his SLG rate closely aligns with his swings in OBP. He needs all the help he can get now that he's away from Coors. Reducing his k's is just part of it.
  2. SLG at Coors 2017: 654 (386 away) 2016: 693 (454 away) 2019: 662 (445 away) 2018: 678 (452 away) SLG at Fenway 2022: 517 (407 away) To be the real Trevor Story, he needs to bring the k's back down to about 25% because that SLG that we remember probably isn't coming back. He didn't get 20M to be a 100 wRC+ guy and at 30% k rate, that's where he'll be.
  3. Romero can be moved to 2b. Story and Xander can be moved elsewhere as well. If these guys are really good enough, you can make room on the roster. Just because Xander has a contract for 6 years, doesn't mean he's the SS for 6 years. Rafaela has a viable glove, but his bat isn't there.
  4. I think it depends on the prospect and depends on the guy they are bringing back. I don't believe in the whole "wasting a year" nonsense that people on here were talking about on Friday. Most of us thought the 2021 team was just an 86 win team. They made it to the ALCS. With one more high leverage starter, they could have gotten to the WS.
  5. Hard to get your OBP up when your k rate is at 30%. If it's down to 23%, it's a little more doable, which kinda was my point. His production can be very good, but he will always strike out.
  6. I'm concerned that they had this guy in house for months and then just let him go. Sure, they liked the metrics enough to bring him in, but the in house guys just didn't like what they saw while he was here? He ended up producing after the SSS of 2020. Seems like a big mistake by Bloom IMO.
  7. With expanded playoffs, Sox should ALWAYS be close to WC contention at the very least. The rollercoaster we've had since 2011 needs to go away.
  8. Story could stay healthy and the k's can get a little better, but he has always been a pretty big k guy. The OF was embarrassing this year. We'll see what it looks like going into 2023. Verdugo hasn't taken any big step forward nor should we expect him to at this point. Health from Kiké will be big. Probably need to grab a FA RFer. I don't see them getting a #1 SP in FA. It would be cost prohibitive and the names available all have certain question marks attached to them health/age/consistency.
  9. I had no idea who Corey Rosier was until notin floated the idea of him being a backup OFer yesterday. Maybe they follow a Christian Koss path and become more memorable next season, but it's hard to see these guys breaking the top 40 anytime soon and zero chance of them breaking the top 20 over the next year.
  10. I didn't call myself that, it was anointed unto me by the heavens.
  11. I can't say I expect anything out of Max Ferguson's 620 OPS in A+ and his stolen base rate went from 51 in 64 games in A to 10 in 50 games in A+. He was too good for A, but needs to repeat A+ and see some sort of success there before I pay attention. Ferguson is currently ranked 59 by SoxProspects. Corey Rosier also OPS'd 547 after getting to Greenville. Rosier is unranked.
  12. You two are the North going and South going Zax incarnate. https://seuss.fandom.com/wiki/The_Zax
  13. When you go to the store to buy a dozen eggs, do you go into the Express Lane if it says 10 items or less? When I say they treated like a platoon player, go look at the amount of PA's a guy like Mitch Moreland had. He was on the strong side of a platoon. He was not getting Ben Zobrist like PA's. I didn't literally mean that they platooned him based on handedness.
  14. Bellinger should be a backup.
  15. Kiké is NOT a utility guy for the Sox, that's for sure. He's definitely a starter here.
  16. Ok, they treated him as a strong side platoon player like Mitch Moreland then. Less than 500 PA per year is a platoon player.
  17. The season hasn't ended. He can't sign anyone yet.
  18. Zobrist also had 599 PA or more 7 out of 8 seasons from 09-16. Kiké has never hit that mark. Zobrist really was a fulltime player that moved around. Kiké was more a backup player that topped out at 462 PA with the Dogers in 2018 before coming to the Sox and becoming a true fulltime player. He was getting the same amount of appearances as a strong side platoon player. I think the Red Sox treat him more like a starter and a Ben Zobrist type than the Dodgers did. Also, the NL game pre-DH allowed for bench players to rack up more appearances over the course of a season.
  19. If SEA offers him 1/18.5M, he should take it IMO. I don't think he's going to get a really huge deal after another injury shortened year.
  20. What's a better term for that kind of player then?
  21. According to Statcast, Nimmo also pulls most of his HR's too and Fenway wouldn't be his preferred location.
  22. It depends on how much of a pull hitter they are. If they can go the other way and use the Monster, it's no big deal. Bellinger is a dead pull hitter according to Statcast.
  23. Bellinger's swing is tailor made to die an even quicker death in Fenway.
  24. Bogey and Swanson will get about the same amount of $$$ IMO. Haniger's contract will be much smaller than Nimmo's.
  25. He did create the first indoor stadium. I'll give him that!
