  1. Yes, if it's one season, it's no big deal. Him and Soler would be on the books/bench for a while.
  2. 1. You still want to get under the luxury tax this season, so why have players on your roster that are overpaid? Sox need to get out of the habit of doing that. 2. Verdugo's advanced metrics from RF last season are NOT good. He probably needs to be put back in LF unless the Sox are going to punt on OF defense. 3. His career OPS+ is 101 which is a far more likely scenario for his age 32 season, but the risk of further 66 seasons is high.
  3. Caleb Hamilton is just a 3rd string guy you have on the roster in case of emergency that you need to call up. You always want a defensive guy who can come in and call a game at a moment's notice. That's not Ronaldo right now. I just wonder if the see Ronaldo in the future. I think Hickey and Brannon could be interesting if they stick at catcher. Scott is a guy, but you even just need org depth. Depth Chart is currently listed as: McGuire Wong Hamilton Hernandez Cottam Scott Marrero Rangel Hickey Erro
  4. He's been mentioned by moon a few times. I don't see it either. $13M isn't a lot of money, but he's not a consistent 2 fWAR guy. He k's a lot. He doesn't walk. His defense is fair. He has a strong arm. His whiff rate is just embarrassing. He's just a worse version of Hunter Renfroe for more money.
  5. Sox should ask the the Dodgers if Betts is available. That contract is awfully large. Maybe they'd eat some of it?
  6. @SoxProspects Triston Casas went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks in last night's Tigres del Licey victory while Enmanuel Valdez went 1-for-2 with an RBI for opposing Toros del Este.
  7. Bryan Reynolds has 3 years of control left and could be a good fit, but it would take a trade of approx: Houck, Yorke and Rafaela. Garcia would love hitting at Fenway, but just isn't a high OBP guy. Unsure about his fit with Bloom. Yaz2 is about as slow as Verdugo and has a much weaker arm. If you paired him and Beni in the OF, runners would just circle the bases.
  8. Other "notables" or NOT-ables depending: Kiermaier Myers
  9. The cupboard was bare at that level, but don't use certain Keith Law descriptors please!
  10. Does Laureano really have higher upside at this point AFTER HE WAS SUSPENDED FOR PED'S?
  11. Verdugo for Renfroe and Strzelecki (bullpen arm) Sign Beni for LF
  12. @mlbtraderumors Eduard Bazardo Elects Free Agency
  13. 5.03 ERA in 50 innings there. He was young for the level at 20.
  14. Maybe 2022, I don't think they would have been ready by 2021.
  15. Guys working at WOO in 2020: Downs - coaches were saying that he was looking ok, but would be better when the lights were on (nope) Duran - had just started unleashing some power potential, but was still largely unknown what it would look like in game Dalbec - lots of power, lots of k's, not many AB's in AAA at that point Houck - had split time between starting and relieving at the end of the prior year and his numbers got better in the pen, still a question mark CJ Chatham - he can hit line drives and play average defense maybe Wong - the thought at the time was potential utility guy and unsure if he was a fulltime catcher That was it.
  16. Per BTV, it'd take a guy like Wikelman to get Laureano too.
  17. I think he could be a 30 HR, 90 RBI, 820 OPS, 3.5-4 fWAR guy. A season like that, especially the HR number, would quell some of the doubts certain folks have.
  18. I think Bloom realized the weakness of the farm at the upper levels. Getting a guy like Ort to just help fill in and provide good production and MAYBE be and up and down guy at some point was smart business. Just keep churning those guys. Ort was taken in the same Rule 5 Draft with Tyreque Reed. Reed flatlined this season, but if you free picks to use you may as well use them.
  19. For what they've gotten out of Winckowski and Kelly so far, it seems like they did a good job identifying those guys.
  20. He's right handed and could be a good defender in RF. Offensively, he's mediocre in just about every way. In the looks department, the ladies will like him.
  21. In 21, he had a 18% bb rate, which made a big difference. He's a very confusing player.
  22. Verdugo in RF in 2022 DRS -4 UZR/150 -17.3 ARM -3.3 OAA -1 LF in 2022: DRS: 0 UZR/150: 8.1 ARM: 1.7 OAA: -4
  23. It's something? He should be cheaper than the other options. If Verdugo can actually stick in RF for a few years, then fine. I really didn't watch many games when Verdugo was in RF in Fenway in 2022. Did he look good? Most of the games I saw of him in RF were from 2020 when he was alright. He's a little slower footed now and his arm kinda sucks.
  24. Story is fine. Let him get to 3.8 before he's a 3.8 guy is all otherwise his numbers are still skewed by that short stretch where he was super duper hot.
  25. Pivetta was a starting pitcher on a cheap contract and the Sox had nobody in the upper levels of the minors. However, WASN'T THE TRADE ALL ABOUT CONNOR SEABOLD AT THE TIME?!??!? I mean, that's the narrative that was told. Pivetta wasn't inserted in the Sox rotation right away. Seabold was talked about like a coup.
