I agree. Bassitt should be cheaper and more reliable IMO.

If your #1/2 prospect is planning on getting fulltime reps at a position, you aren't going to spend much $$$ on a backup.

Hosmer/Dalbec/Refsnyder? Maybe, but it depends on what good enough is? Cordero? No. Valdez? Who knows? Arroyo? Don't complain about mediocrity and then use Arroyo as a solution to anything.

Correa had a bad year. Soto was bad and he was nominated too. As has been said numerous times, the GG award is a joke.

He was good, but not great. As I said the other day, a lot of his value came from being in the shift. When he was not shifting, his defense was a net negative.

Fine as in his dollar value per fWAR will even out to his contract value. I don't think the Sox are in danger of having an annual net loss at any point. Will he put butts in the seats? Maybe? Will they plaster his face everywhere? Oh yeah.

I don't think Swanson would be much cheaper than Xander. We'll have to see though. Lugo has already being transitioned off SS to 2b and 3b.

He's probably not going to ever have another 10 fWAR season. However, he needs to average 5 fWAR for 8 years and then have 2 years where he's a flat zero for the contract to be fine.

He was slumping going into the playoffs? Since 9/23: 160 wRC+ The worst you could say is he had a 97 wRC+ over the final 4 games of the year.
