  1. Interesting fact: Who was the catcher for the last two AL Cy Young winners? Victor Martinez.
  2. Your personal experience: It is not needed here.
  3. Actually, that's exactly the problem. I got laid off a couple months ago, and lost my car a couple weeks ago. I'm basically trapped at home until a get a new job.
  4. It's okay. Please feel free to contribute. Welcome to TalkSox.
  5. Apparently, if it supports his argument.
  6. So you contend that: A) Beckett is a better pitcher than Santan. B ) The Mets have the payroll flexibility to add yet another 20 million pitcher.
  7. The Yankees are the only team willing to sign a pitcher for 20+ in this economy. Al the other teams you mentioned would only sign a pitcher for that much in your imagination.
  8. I shall refrain from war with Jacko. But frustration builds up, you know? You ask a simple question expecting a specific answer. He acknowledges the answer, but then puts some sort of twist into it, making it as though that wasn't actually the answer. It gets old. Quick.
  9. You're a f***ing idiot. That's all i can say.
  10. There are no confounders. Do you or do you not try to avoid these players? Yes you would. You are making up ramifications to avoid the original question. The answer simply being yes you avoid them unless completely necessary.
  11. Sure, you can spin it your way all you want, but you're dead wrong. You can usually find guys with comparable ages and comparable stat lines all over the FA market. If you're talking about a certified superstar that your team NEEDS, enormous emphasis on NEEDS,then sure, you can put up with his ********. But if it's a complimentary piece like Jose Guillen, you really gonna sign him, when there're a gazillion players who could offer his production?
  12. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
  13. I'm not saying NEVER sign one. I'm saying do you or do you not avoid them at all costs. As in this: Player A: .287/357/458 Player B: .290/360/470 Player B has a history of clubhouse altercations and addressing the media regarding the team's policies, and both will cost roughly the same amount of money. Who do you sign?
  14. This is not the point of the question, they did s*** the bed with Tex, and maybe they just didn't want Ramirez and his shenanigans around anymore. The question is simply a hypothetical question: If you own a ML team, do you or do you not avoid players who could potentially become clubhouse cancers?
  15. Jacko seems to think everyone operates under the Yankee's standards of financial freedom. And he's wrong.
