In my opinion, there has to be something mechanically wrong with Beckett, and it finally manifested physically today. If that's the case, and Farrell hadn't picked it up, then he really does have to go.

In the spanish broadcast they said the reason Girardi was talking to the umpires and had them make that phone call was to inform ML HQ of the reason why the grounds crew did not remove the tarp from the Sox bullpen in a timely fashion.

Don't mean to be a pessimist, but he hasn't been missing his spots early in the game, and that's what usually happens before hitters catch up and hammer him. Keeping my fingers crossed for a turnaround.

Interesting comments from the spanish broadcasters: "There is no sense in saying the Red Sox will be "broken" if they lose to the Yankees tonight, these are professional ballplayers that know that anything can happen in the game of baseball. Just look at how they dominiated the Yankees early last year, but look how that ended. They will bounce back, and it will be a three-team race in the AL East to the finish".
