  1. The Rangers already signed a catcher, a reliever, and extended offers to Vlad Guerrero and a couple other players. So much for not being able to make their moves without Lee. Also, they flew to Arkansas to present their contractual offers to Lee, but the Yankees keep upping the ante. So what should he do? Leave more years and money on the table just so he doesn't "disrespect anyone". Come on now, that's not how negotiations work.
  2. Are you saying that you're surprised by douchebaggey claims coming from a Yankee fan that are similar to another Yankee fan? I can't believe that. I see a lot more Gom in Divinity than in Meh, but the douchebag factor runs in their DNA, with rare exceptions like Y228. So no, i don't think Meh is Gom.
  3. My view on it is that Lee's trying to factor the income tax (or lack thereof) argument that Texas has probably presented to him. I think that if when taking said factor into account the Rangers offer is superior or at least similar to the Yankee one, he stays in Texas. Of course, i don't know what Lee's thinking, nor do i claim to do so, but it seems likely.
  4. Impossible. Meh is very knowledgeable (by Yankee fan standards) about prospects from the Red Sox, Rays and Yankees (from what i've read) Gom couldn't be bothered with Yankee prospects, thought they were all trade bait, and that they were mostly useless. He couldn't make an accurate assessment about prospects even if he could copy-paste it. Therefore, Meh =/= Gom.
  5. He doesn't bitch to the media, but he constantly bickers with game officials about everything from balls and strikes to Safe calls etc etc etc. If i had my way, the Sox would've gotten Ronny Paulino and his .881 career OPS vs lefties (which includes a .390 OBP). He's never been a regular, but he'd be perfect as a complimentary piece. On the other hand, i'll say what i always say, we're looking at things from the outside, as fans, we're not talent evaluators or statisticians. There has to be a reason why they're going so hard after Martin instead of going after two of the guys mentioned above, who are much much cheaper. That being said, carrying three catchers makes zero sense, so Salty better still have an option.
  6. Guess who views Lowrie as a super-sub instead of the starting SS? If you guessed the Sox FO and manager Terry Francona, then you guessed right. His health is an issue, and ignoring that because you have a hard-on for the guy is ridiculous. If he wants the starting spot he has to earn it by producing and showing he can handle the rigors of everyday play.
  7. Olivo has an attitude problem, and knowing this FO's aversion to "colorful characters" it's unsurprising they wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole.
  8. I'm accusing you of reaching on your criticisms (Boggs ate Theo's lunch!!!111!!!) and always having a reason to complain about everything. No need to look further into it.
  9. It probably was, but apparently Lee is looking for more than 20 per according to reports, and notice how it says: Meaning that it wasn't specifically a "lowball" offer, but an offer with a slightly lower AAV that he would be inclined to take only if someone else didn't go to the same length (seven years) with a higher AAV.
  10. Why sit Drew instead of Ortiz? Even though he struggled against lefties last year, he's been historically able to hold his own against them, and last year featured a .262 BABIP against them. I say he's a better bet of bouncing back against then than Ortiz. So i'd DH Cameron. I'd also play Varitek against every lefty.
  11. It takes thirty seconds to read the reports before commenting.
  12. Now go sign Martin, Guerrier, Fuentes. /offseason.
  13. Wait, weren't you using those same types of reports to criticize the FO's negotiating abilities during the Adrian Gonzales trade? Come on now, stay consistent.
  14. What does this mean? This "Theo can do no wrong" crap is ********. When he shits the bed (like the Lugo contract or the Gagne trade) people will call it a s***** move. You find a reason to criticize every move, every time, reaching for the most ridiculous arguments (See: Gonzales, Adrian). Everyone who thought it would be a bad idea to sign him still thinks it's a s***** contract that will hurt the team down the road. You hate it when people put words in your mouth, so stop doing the same thing then setting up the victim act.
  15. If anyone should be called out here it's you. Crawford was looking for a hell of a lot more money and years after that stupid Werth contract, yet got almost the same amount of money and same amount of years. What happened to Theo "getting his lunch eaten by everyone"? Where's the bitching and moaning now? No more bitching and moaning about anything, that's what you should be focusing on.
  16. Lost their 1B, LF, and traded their SS. Dismantled their bullpen and are looking to trade a starter. Things are not looking up for the Rays.
  17. You're totally and completely full of crap. You were rubbing your boner at the possibility of him and Lee signing with the Yankees, hypocrite.
  18. But they're doing it within the limitations of their budget, which is significantly lower than the Yanks', contradicting your main point. The difference in money made/money spent between the Sox and Yankees is big, and trying to deny that is dishonest. It's true that it's not as big as it used to be, but it is there, and it's very significant.
