  2. Poor consolation when our guy worked nearly as hard.
  3. Frustrating. We're not going to get too many opportunities against Kazmir. Definitely don't like the ump giving one of them away.
  4. Base hit too much to ask for guys?
  5. Youks should have walked on 4 pitches there. Both of those strikes were clearly out of the zone.
  6. Generous strike 1 to Youk.
  7. Encouraging. Don't blow this.
  8. Bad luck there
  9. Too many pitches. 21 through 1.
  10. Lester is touching 95 in the early going. Holy cow. That was a 90MPH cutter. A 90 MPH cutter. Wow.
  11. Heck, will baseball stadiums be what they are now in 50 years? We're already making inroads into levels of VR that make the stadium experience little more than a pleasant and profitable anachronism, who knows how far that goes as we move into the future.
  12. We live in a glass house. That glass house is named Jonathan Papelbon and Dustin Pedroia.
  13. We also won a WS after that. Correlation not = causation. Still kind of ironic that Wily Mo's best year came when he had a wrist injury.
  14. Papa Jack was the coach for Wily Mo's successful year in 2006, Magadan for his fiasco of a 2007. I sometimes wonder if we'd kept Jackson around would Wily Mo have come closer to fulfilling his promise. I hope the two get together at some point and maybe the guy can get his career back.
  15. Shea Hillenbrand has not covered himself in glory since he left Boston and was a bigtime attitude problem. Also with Mueller, Millar, and Ortiz there really wasn't a need for him. Kim was perhaps one of the worst postseason closers in history before he even got to Boston but it's not like anyone in that bullpen that year was inspiring confidence. That's why we got Foulke the next season.
  16. Cleared the pitcher.
  17. That was just about as clean as an inning could possibly be.
  18. .... I think he's angry.
  19. Well, they got one. I still don't like to see us inaugurate the season by failing to blow the game open early though.
  20. Shields has now thrown twice as many pitches as Beckett and only three more strikes.
  21. Nice audio on that GameDay video highlight. (oww...)
  22. Single by Bay would really start this season off right.
  23. THey'll never shut him up now...
  24. Ahh yes, the old false dichotomy between looking at numbers and watching and understanding the game. Tried and true tactic of disgruntled old-schoolers everywhere. just once I'd like to post numbers without some opinionated jackass assuming I've never watched a game in my life.
