The only reason to have a lefty specialist is if you have a couple of other who don't fare well against lefties at all who might need to come out instead of facing the lefty. The only guy we have right now that I can think of who answers that description is Masterson.

Game wrap: Not helped by the Referees tonight, but that wasn't the reason we lost. Absurdly bad execution, a lack of success with balls in play, and very poor defensive decision making sank the Red Sox tonight. Hard to pick a team goat since they all had to work so hard for the privellege. I think it has to go as a group to Boston's infield defense, including the pitcher, which had a very bad night of it.

That one doesn't fly, as we have Oki and Jones who could be our lefties, but I think Lopez is overall an asset. This was just not our game.

You won't hear me disagree with that because Hunter Jones is out there, but I don't see what's wrong with letting Lopez build up some trade value. Besides, SOMEONE has to be the worst pitcher on the team.

Because other than a few idiot moments like this one he's been a very solid contributor to the bullpen.
