Are you sure? Because I think it does prove that these guys are human beings rather than statistical entries. No matter how much statistical baseball science evolves, there will always be factors that go beyond the numbers. Personally I think we should relax. We have Bard and papelbon both, Paps is still an above average among his elite company even with his "struggles,"and we're at this moment blowing a miserable Baltimore scrub into the ionosphere. Things are good. We don't have to make this call now or even really form an opinion on it.

Sarcasm logged, noted and smiled at. Everyone and anyone except the very, very best franchise players, if Seattle asks, Seattle gets. This is why: Beckett Felix Lester (healthy) Daisuke Buchholz. I think anyone would agree with me when I say that I would be a very happy little boy if that became our rotation.

Josh Anderson. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/anderjo03.shtml Having a bad year off the bench this year, but potentially quite a useful three position speedy type. He was traded from Detroit to Kansas City. -
You pay a legendary price for Felix. Which is probably why the Mariners are putting their heads together. I would give up every player on this roster not named Lester or Pedroia for Hernandez.

Looking at what I see as Seattle's specific needs, I can see a package of Casey Kelly, Lars Anderson, Michael Bowden, Yamaico Navarro and Luis Exposito to be much to their liking. From our perspective that's a high price but not really too much to pay to bring the King to Fenway.

Possible successor and heir to Josh Beckett. Any reasonable price should be paid. The Mariners wouldn't be as interested in Buchholz because what they want is 6 years of cost control on a high ceiling guy. And they're desperate for a decent 1B. Kelly and Anderson would be a good starting point from Seattle's perspective, I'm thinking. They'll want more, but those two will get you in the door. And I wouldn't worry about trading either of them because our core rotation would be young and excellent with Beckett, Hernandez, Lester, Daisuke, and Buchholz, and good pitching prospects come along with fair regularity, and if we lose Anderson, Youks still has a few good years and Rizzo's not that far behind.

Depends on what else we give up. If it's Buchholz plus the guys we already sent for Martinez plus another A baller (Weiland perhaps?) then sure. Maybe if it was actually original material. Some jokes lose their edge after the first 5,000 times you read them.

I, along with a lot of Mariners fans, would have been stunned to see the M's deal Felix. It probably would have been easier to get Ubaldo Jimenez.

it's more a question of where DOESN'T Teahen play. Seriously, I'm fine with VMart. But from a simple standpoint of meeting as many needs as possible, I still think the guy was a great fit.

Not very interested in seeing Cabrera to be honest. He had his chances at the big league level and never did much with them. he's strictly a AAAA arm. -
What's the countermove on Masterson? I'm still not sure Martinez takes Masterson's place on the 25 man roster. We'll lose a position player soon and call up a pitcher IMHO,.

B-. I didn't see a move that really wowed me. Victor martinez is a fine player but he's hardly an elite middle of the order bat.

It depends on the situation. Generally we just wait for law enforcement to take care of the problem. I imagine there are circumstances that may warrant an exception howeve.
