  1. Yep. Kid has shown that he has some duck feathers, if you know what I mean. That bad inning didn't stick to him.
  2. I love the cat in your avvy. I have a boyo who looks a lot like that.
  3. Nice inning for the kid, kudos for Tek.
  4. We seem to have a little trouble finding the zone again. TEK!!!!!!
  5. I will say that if he can locate that fastball consistently, that's almost a Halladay type fastball with its movement. With his height, pitching down into the zone, he can make it real heavy. If he can learn to pound the bottom of the zone with that fastball he's going to be a lot better than his current "late inning reliever" ceiling.
  6. He ran into some bad luck and the O's took advantage in the second. Frankly I think his stuff is really impressive. I love the movement on his mid 90's FB. That's a really good main offering if he can get some consistency with it. That cutter has missed some bats too. Kid's a big leaguer in the making.
  7. I'd say it differently. I'd say he hasn't been able to locate it consistently. He's definitely had good moments out there but the Orioles are definitely getting him occasionally. Par for the course in a young pitcher. Nice induced GIDP. Looks like Weiland bounced back really well.
  8. Get it into the bottom half of the zone kid.
  9. And I see Scutaro got some atonement for himself while I was up and ranting after some of his fielding fails.
  10. If it's the one I'm thinking of, shoulda gone to first.
  11. Sure there were. Maybe SCUTARO wasn't going to turn either of those other 2 throws, but don't tell me that ACTUAL SHORTSTOPS can't. Dude's a utility man. And it's because of the arm. And that shoulder is now hurt on top of it. The man has no ability to make critical throws. Navarro to short. Please.
  12. 3 of those runs are directly on Marco Scutaro for failing to execute three different throws.
  13. Pfft. Hardly. He has plenty of room to suck in July and earn his way back into credibility later on. I don't think you quite realize just how young Reddick is, and the Kalish injury really cleared the field for him. Reddick actually has one of the larger windows of opportunity of any recent Red Sox prospect. Only Youkilis really has had a longer one. Kalish would really have to put on a show to surpass Reddick as the in-house potential Drew replacement, and with Ellsbury not locked up going forward, well, one of the things I've noticed about this front office is it's not in the business of making holes in its plans for the roster. Reddick is going to be Red Sox property going forward. In fact I strongly suspect that all of Kalish, Lin and Reddick are currently in Boston's plans for the next 3 years, depending on what Ellsbury does. If we need trade bait, look to guys like Weiland, Doubront and Lavarnway. There's plenty there to tickle the interest of another GM without touching Reddick.
  14. So, one start? Sounds like an outlier to me. EDIT: YEah, beyond the question of the unfamiliar radar gun, which I would definitely suspect as one possible source of an outlier, I'm not seeing 89 that frequently. I'm seeing fastballs sitting anywhere from 89 (like 5 or 6 fastballs) through 94 with the vast majority of fastballs being between 90 and 92. You only need the gun to be off by -1 MPH there to achieve a "normal" result for Miller..
  15. It's exaggerated. What I'm seeing from the radar looks more like 91-93 on the heat, not sure where that 89 is coming from at all. He definitely has the ability to crank it up, not surprised that he traded a few MPH for better command, a lot of young kids do that then if they get the command down the velocity magically returns and sometimes even increases. THat's what happened with Lester.
  16. OK let's get the obvious out of the way about last night's start. Most pitchers don't walk 4 and surrender 6 hits over 5 innings and have it said of them, that they pitched well, much less getting compared to team aces. On the other hand? That start by Miller? It reminds me a lot of some of the starts by Lester in 06 and 07 when he was just getting his stuff under control, back when I called him Teflon Jon for his knack of wriggling out of the big inning when something like this comes around. Little wild, left it up too often, but he battled, made some key pitches, fought his way through 5 innings and left with a lead. For Miller, that's progress. This is a guy who's spent most of his major league career getting lit up when things get out of control and he showed the ability to buckle down and put the lid back on. I'll take that. I'd rather he dominate every start of course, but I still think this start is more of a good sign than a bad one when you consider what this kid has been and the maturity he showed pushing through a bad start to get 5 and a win out of it..
  17. Let's talk about RF at present. WHen Crawford comes back, I think you've gotta start Reddick in RF for an extended period of time. Time to take the training wheels off and see what the kid can do. Besides, what's the worst Drew can do in response to being benched? Go into a slump? Give you the silent treatment? He's got zero leverage here. Make the move Tito.
  18. Would it make sense if I called Miller's effort a "good pitcher's bad outing?" Like the kind of bad outing good pitchers still fight through and pull something good out of?
  19. We could still get homers un 4 straight at bats, since walks are only "plate appearances."
  20. That was a borderline pitch for ball 4. It was there to swing at if he wanted it.
  21. Well it's a JD Drew home run lol.
  22. Now would be a great time to break out of that slump Mr. David Jonathan Drew.
  23. Oh man no way JD makes it 4. None. Right?
