  1. Dempster will get gang raped in the AL east. Ugh.
  2. 31 years old is not 'young talent'. Try again.
  3. Completely missed the point. Arlington doesn't have a fraction of the media pressure as Boston does. Last year the Red Sox became the Boston media's whipping boys thanks to their underachieving ways, and it clearly did a number on everybody. Absolute worst situation in the league for a guy like Hamilton. And there's no reason to think that atmosphere would change with Hamilton in tow, since even with him we would be very fortunate to make the playoffs. How about instead of constantly blowing our load early looking for the quick fix, we take the time to actually build a foundation for once.
  4. Arlington is not Boston. If there's one city in the league that could drive him to a hard relapse, this is the one. Let somebody else roll the dice on him. Preferably Seattle, that way we'll never hear from him again.
  5. He's past his prime, he has a history of substance abuse problems, and Boston's an incredibly high pressure situation after what happened last year. That's a recipe for disaster. We cleared a lot of bad contract money off the decks in August, turning around and pissing it all away again on Hamilton is a dumb move. Let Hamilton go vanish in Seattle, go after Swisher and other pieces instead.
  6. Unless it's a 1 year deal or a 2-3 year deal with a 10 or less AAV, I want no part of Hamilton.

  8. Or they could just, you know, outbid the Red Sox. Seeing as that's how they won the other two battles you mentioned.
  9. The Red Sox are not going to be contending this season no matter what Cherington does. If September rolls around and they are in contention, it's either a miracle, or Cherington did something extremely short-sighted that will come back to haunt this team down the line (like opening up the checkbook for Josh Hamilton, or emptying the farm for some quick fix guy that won't be worth it). So, I'm not too concerned about the arms race for next season, because I have no expectations for next season.
  10. Okay. Theoretically, let's say Cherington did go out and sign two pitchers with a combined age of 77, like the Yankees just did. What would your reaction be then? I'll tell you what it would be. The exact same ******** you're spewing now. Why is Cherries dicking around with two pitchers with a combined age almost as high as mine when he could be out there doing something useful?? This guy is totally inept. Can't wait until the Red Sox finally fire this guy. Disgusting. ^That's you. I don't even know why I come here.
  11. If the Red Sox have the chance to make that Lester/Myers trade with KC, they have to do it. Absolutely have to.
  12. It's just about all half the waterheads on this forum are capable of.
  13. I understood it perfectly. What you said was just irrelevant garbage, and you're full of s***. Like always.
  14. NOPE CABRERA HAD MOAR RBIS HES MVP
  15. No, RBIs are a result of his teammates getting on base. That has nothing to do with him. Trout leads Cabrera in OBP, which supercedes batting average. Get it through your heads. Trout is the MVP.
  16. My book is right, because it isn't based on arbitrary, circumstantial stats.
  17. Did I not just get done explaining why RBI and HR totals are junk stats to go by? For anything? Using RBI to argue for one player in favor of another automatically removes all your credibility. And this matters why? So it's Mike Trout's fault that he had worse teammates in a better division? No, he doesn't. Trout is the MVP. End of story.
  18. No, he didn't.
  19. Trust me, they don't care. The Angels had a better record than the Tigers, you buffoon. And it doesn't matter who else has won the triple crown, because all three of the stats involved are either completely worthless (RBI), or an inferior measurement compared to something else. Batting average is a partial measurement of how often a player gets on base. Well guess what? On base percentage is a full measurement of how often a player gets on base. And Trout beats Cabrera in the latter category. Totals stats like RBI and HR are junk in the first place, but especially in the context of an MVP discussion where one of the players missed a full month. RBI is circumstantial and rooted in other player's accomplishments, so it's beyond useless. Home runs is inferior to slugging percentage. Cabrera's still the better power hitter of the two, but the other two legs of his triple crown award are garbage. If you can't see that, you're a blind, ignorant fool. Simple as that. Wake the f*** up.
  20. Well, your book is dead wrong, since the triple crown is based on inferior stats. On base percentage is a far more useful and revealing stat than batting average, and Trout has Cabrera beat by more in OBP than Cabrera has Trout beat in batting average. RBI is a circumstantial stat that doesn't tell you anything of value. It's worthless.. HR is a totals stat and an inferior measure of power hitting, although Cabrera is ahead of Trout is slugging percentage regardless. Most importantly, Trout absolutely kicks Cabrera's ass in WAR. Trout's number in that category is all-time, Cabrera's is merely all-star level. It's not even close. Again, the MVP award is a joke. In all sports. Cabrera winning this over Trout is a shining example why.
  21. And this is why the MVP award is a farce.
  22. Loria has no reason to sell. He makes a good buck off of baseball's revenue sharing. Keeping a scarce payroll only helps that bottom line.
  23. If Nolasco/Stanton are traded somewhere other than Boston, then I'll blame Ben.
  24. Bingo. What a surprise. A big trade is made that doesn't involve the Red Sox, and the usual suspects start crying.
  25. This is why I wanted the Celtics to blow it up this past summer. Yeah, we got better, but so did Miami. We still don't have a chance in hell against them. I don't like this team's chances against Indiana or a healthy Chicago either. We're pretty much waiting for this team to die. No fun.
